Land office porkies

While transferring a deed into my kid's name the boss at the land office let us know that at age 20 the child couldn't be a dual citizen and own land in thailand.

Only took a second to debunk this on google. Why do these people say things that are a lie?

Reminds me of while staying in Isaan Bangkok Bank told me foreigners can't have a bank account.

They were probably expecting you to cave for a donation.

This sort of thing what happens in countries where people buy their jobs (they need to make that money back), or simply they have cheated in any exams needed or a 'friend' helped them get the job, competence is not a requirement for the post

The kid is 14, we just put a chanote in joint ownership with Mother which was an extra. Chiming in with unnecessary and incorrect info was not needed. They weren't making any more money. It was early and we were like the only ones there for business. We never initiated any discussion.

It may have been a translation error, he may have been trying to explain that your child is unable to sell the land/property prior to age 20yo.

Did this happen at the Laem Chabang office?

This is what we were told when the office was located at Suksubai

In your op you said at age 20. So I assumed the kid was 20 and not 14.

It was in Rayong. No, what he said was understood correctly. It's just a small example of incorrect information given by officials.

The money thing is very real. In a different province we had to slip 3000 baht in my passport at land office.
