New “Fly2Ferry” option launched – easier island access 2026

Featured Replies

New “Fly2Ferry” option launched – easier island access or just repackaged travel?

Vietjet Thailand has rolled out a new service called Fly2Ferry, aimed at simplifying trips from Bangkok down to the Gulf islands:

  • Koh Samui

  • Koh Tao

  • Koh Phangan

Instead of booking flights, transfers, and ferries separately, you can now do it all in one booking.

What you actually get

This isn’t a direct flight-to-island solution (important point).

The route works like this:

  • Fly Bangkok → Surat Thani or Nakhon Si Thammarat

  • Van transfer → Donsak Pier

  • Ferry → your island (run by Lomprayah)

So operationally, it’s the same journey most people already do — just bundled together.

Why they’re doing it

Vietjet is clearly trying to:

  • Make the process feel simpler for tourists

  • Capture more of the travel spend (flight + ferry)

  • Compete with full-service routes like direct Samui flights

They’re pitching it as a smoother, “connected” experience rather than something new transport-wise.

Launch promo

  • 30% off ferry fares

  • From ~THB 1,100 (adult), THB 550 (child)

  • Book by: May 31

  • Travel window: April 22 → Sept 30

Worth it?

Straight take:

Pros

  • One booking = less hassle

  • Good for first-time visitors

  • Slight savings with promo

Cons

  • Still multiple legs (flight + van + ferry)

  • No real time saving

  • You’re locked into their schedule vs mixing options yourself

My take

If you’ve done this route before, you probably won’t see much difference.

If you haven’t, this removes a lot of the friction and guesswork.

Anyone here used similar “air + ferry bundles” before?
Better than DIY… or just paying for convenience?
