Supplies for sofa repair

Featured Replies

I'm in jomtien, I want to fix the internal wooden frame of a sofa. I wondered where in jomtien / pattaya to buy small amounts of wood. Less than 1 meter.

Small volume hobbyist supplies rather than industrial home building stores. Thanks.

The big sources will all have scrap they can take the small pieces you require from.

Thai Watsadu, probably the incorrect spelling, but it's a transliteration. Hang a left of Chayapruek onto Suk and cruise for about a click. You can't miss it.

I live in East Pattaya, Padtanakan rd..., there are 3 or 4 Woodworking shops in this Soi, with piles of scrap wood outside, scrap, but im sure u will have to pay for what u take,...I use them often for offcuts

I used Mr diy and thai watsadu for tools. Then just ordered the remaining parts from tiktok shop.

There's a chap who lives in the National Observatory in Washington DC who is reputed to be something of a conneseur of sofas - might be worth dropping him a line?

No, I should be fine. The Thai climate caused the sofa frame to dry out and become brittle. Also the quality of joinery is low. Brad nails, butt joints and no gluing.

So I will open the sofa from the bottom, rebuild and reinforce the frame. Then close up and this sofa should last a few years more.
