Can I renew my Thai DL in Pathumthani?

Featured Replies

I was told (not by any official channel) that I needed to make an appointment to renew my Driver's license. That walk ins were no longer possible, and that I needed to book an appointment through gecc.dlt.go.th.

The problem is, this website only allows appointments to the 3 offices in Bangkok and 1 in Pattaya. When I ask for Pathumthani, I am presented with greyed out boxes that I can't click. Is it no longer possible to renew my DL through the Pathumthani department of Land Transport?

The earliest appointments in Bangkok are the middle of June. That's insane. My license is already expired, and a 2 month queue for this is just nuts. I get the concept of bureaucracy, but this seems absurd. Is there really no other option right now? Is it true you absolutely cannot walk in anymore? If I go down to Pathumthani are they going to turn me away and say no?

Anyone who's been through the process recently I would appreciate your advice.

You need to go to the DLT in person and make the appointment should only be a couple of weeks and find out what documents they currently require, the main Bangkok DLT did accept walk ins last year but had a limit how many foreigners they see without appoitments, i renewed at DLT 3 Bang Chak last year, 2 weeks for appoitment but they only accepted a Residence Certificate as proof of address they turned a few away who tried using the yellow book, but currently who knows
