Vietnam's DK1 platforms stand as steel fortresses on the southern continental shelf, reinforcing the nation's maritime sovereignty and supporting marine economic activities. Located hundreds of nautical miles from the mainland, these structures are manned by the dedicated officers and soldiers of the DK1 Battalion under Navy Region 2, who maintain vigilance around the clock. Their presence is crucial in an area known for fierce storms and relentless winds, showcasing their resolve and commitment.

The establishment of DK1 platforms highlights Vietnam's strategic efforts to secure its maritime boundaries. These installations bolster the country's presence in critical waters, serving as both protective and economic hubs. The forces stationed here are a testament to Vietnam's unwavering dedication to safeguarding its maritime interests and maintaining stability in a geopolitically sensitive region.

Defense experts commend the DK1 initiative as a significant factor in securing national interests and enhancing regional security. The platforms not only demonstrate Vietnam's military prowess but also its political determination to uphold sovereignty in contested waters. This ongoing commitment has strengthened national unity and fostered international respect for Vietnam's approach to maritime disputes.

Looking forward, Vietnam plans to maintain and possibly expand these strategic installations. Continued investment in the DK1 platforms will ensure resilience against natural challenges and enhance their capacity to support economic activities in the region. This proactive approach signals Vietnam's long-term strategy to protect its maritime interests and affirm its regional influence.

No mention above of China and its unlawful expansionist maritime activities in the region ...

Vietnam has an exclusive economic zone (EEZ), as prescribed by the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, to an area of the sea in which a sovereign state has exclusive rights regarding the exploration and use of marine resources, including oil & gas, energy production from water and wind.

It stretches from the outer limit of the territorial sea at 12 nautical miles (22 km; 14 mi) from the coast to 200 nautical miles (370 km; 230 mi) from the coast of the state in question.

China claims sovereignty over Vietnam's claims of EEZ.
