Six Foreign Women Arrested in Sukhumvit Prostitution Crackdown

Police arrested six foreign women in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit area on May 7 after complaints from residents and videos circulating on Thai social media. The operation took place on Soi Sukhumvit 4, where officers said women were seen approaching passersby, particularly foreign men, to allegedly offer sex services. The arrested group included five Vietnamese nationals and one Uzbek national. They were charged under Thailand’s Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act, which carries a fine of up to 1,000 baht. Police did not say whether immigration authorities would seek deportation following the arrests.
