Up To 3 Hours Drive From Bkk

Featured Replies

Where is nice to go for a weekend up to 3 hours drive from Bkk?

Ideally I am looking for somewhere to buy a large house. I dont want a big resort and would prefer seclusion, but I do need a swimming pool. Any ideas greatly appreciated

Pattaya :o

depending where in Bangkok you are - you need to consider time to take you through the town.

if you are in the west bangkok than cha am is a nice and cheapesh alternative to hua hin, and closer to bangkok.

if you are in the east bangkok than equally interesting to cha am but more expensive is rayong.

Go to Khao Yai National Park :o

I'd go for Hua Hin. There are some quietish areas to be found on the beach away from the main drag and then there's the mountains behind. You also have the option of a half-decent nightlife, too, whereas Cha Am is a bit of a bore and not nearly as nice IMO.

Agree - as the OP stated he did not want a big resort location

How about Nakhon Nayok where you can enjoy a cool dip at nearby waterfall or a nice swim at some of the hotel resort. Plenty of land with mountains backdrop where you can built your house and just an hour drive from bangkok.

Buy a house in NN (province of waterfalls...)? My missus comes from there and it's gotta be one of the most average (and corrupt) provinces in Thailand. In fact all of central Thailand is very boring to me.

Cha am could suit the poster. But we don't have much info to go on.

Kanchanaburi....great place for scenary some night life & still quite cheap :o

Wow! Thanks for the good response.

My Bkk house is in Sapansoong which is near to the new airport. I think I will start looking at the end of October when I return.

Inland sounds good. I don't want to build so I will need to go to a place westerners have already built. ANyone know any small resorts that are a bit off the beaten track? Preferably individual owned places rather than chains.

if you are around the new airport, you are after kind of resort and farang build houses than you are looking for properties around pattaya. Sooner or rather later you will find something away from the bustle and reasonably priced - and the prices are falling, so don't rush if you don't have to. During the week and weekends when you are not there you have a chance to rent it out to holidaymakers.

I've lived in Kanchanaburi for the last 3 years and I've recently started working with a new resort Oriental Kwai. It's run by a Dutch/Thai couple, has ten cotages, a swimming pool, it's just out of town, off the beaten track and right on the river. Could be just the place for relaxing weekends without the hassle of buying and maintaining your own hoilday house. You are welcome to contact me for further details and contact numbers

A few kms south of Hua Hin are some quiet, beautiful beaches. Prices are higher than most other places though.

Hi That sounds perfect but I want the whole lot!!! I am not looking for a weekend place more for something that my staff and partners can use for a quiet retreat or for conferences etc. the property you are describing would be perfect for my plans. (I don't want it for a resort either)
