Swedish National Assaults Indian Man in Phuket, Surrenders

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

A Swedish tourist, Noel Akdemir, surrendered to Phuket police after assaulting an Indian man, identified as Bahrat Kumawat, outside the Patong Platinum Hotel. The altercation stemmed from a dispute over allegedly stolen money, escalating to a physical confrontation caught on surveillance footage. Kumawat, who is reportedly the hotel owner, filed a police complaint following the incident.

The confrontation occurred on May 18, with Akdemir allegedly reacting violently after accusing hotel staff of stealing 6,000 baht. Video evidence shows the Swedish national arguing with Kumawat and later slapping another Indian man before attempting to flee. Akdemir has since acknowledged the assault and apologized, citing frustration over the missing money as the cause of his behavior.

Both parties have filed legal complaints, with Kumawat seeking justice for the assault, and Akdemir making a counter-complaint regarding the theft. Police have accepted the reports, and further discussions between those involved are scheduled. The outcomes of these talks and potential legal actions remain pending.

In instances like this, it should not be solely a case 'it's up to the victim what he wants to do, ie he can settle" Kick this guy out of the country, and revoke his visa and lifetime ban - only then

Noel Akdemir is not Swedish. He is 32 years old and has had legal trouble in Sweden. He lives with his parents just outside of Stockholm. I agree Thailand should deport him and ban him for life. This

Kick this guy out of the country, and revoke his visa and lifetime ban - only then when the message gets out will these trash learn. There is no excuse for violence, in what was once a peaceful country.

Would he have been violent in China, Dubai or Singapore ? No chance.

Unfortunately Thailand is attracting these in the bucket loads.

When was Thailand ever a peaceful country? There are assaults, murders and raapes every damned day. Judge Bean here in his basement up in Isaan.

The Swede (first real one in recent stories) should have stuck around and given the lot of them a sound thrashing. Fatty in the white shirt was about to meet Shiva and should thank his lucky stars the Swede didn't finish the job.

I agree Thailand should deport him and ban him for life. This should also be reported to the Swedish authorities so they can deport him from Sweden as well. Let him chew sand in a desert somewhere and think about his life.

Yeah, so file a police report.

going around assaulting people is not the way to go.

I agree with above, but I sure hope that the owner is truly the owner. I’m sure now they will be looking into his business. Hopefully he’s Thai Indian otherwise he may have just caused himself some serious trouble.

No. When i first visited Thailand around 2010, so not that long ago, these places were nothing like that, not even close.

So many problems can be solved by simply deporting people.

Another turnup for the books this week with a swede in trouble again. He might end up vegetating in the big house if he's not careful.

2010 was when Pattaya really started to go downhill and get boring. It used to be a wild place. If you want a sample of what the 'real' Thailand is like, read the regional sections of this forum. There's far more heinous crime in the villages than tourists slapping around Indians.

Another way to check out the past is to go to the back pages of the Pattaya thread. There are posts from over 20 years ago. It's kind of bittersweet for those of us who have been coming for a while.

You accuse him of violence, but ignore the fact at the beginning of the video, the staff member attacked him with a chair...so, if you know of what took place, please tell us.

Are you saying that he is not Swedish because he is ethnically Turkish? The man has a Swedish Passport, which means that he is a Swedish national according to the Swedish government since they made the rules. If he entered Thailand he had a passport that was issued by Sweden and also in accordance with EU laws on granting passports to people with legal histories.

An former friend of mine was a regular guest at a hotel. One day, he couldn't find his camera and insisted a maid had stolen it. Though she denied it, he demanded she be fired or he's write it up on the internet. She lost her job.

The next year when he returned, we were having a coffee together.

I'm kind of a camera bug and noticed he had the same make and model camera with him as he'd had before. I asked him if he had gotten an insurance replacement. He replied: "Oh no, I found the lost one in another bag I'd forgotten about." I asked if he had informed the hotel that the maid had not stolen it. He told me he couldn't be bothered. She had probably stolen other things and was surely long gone.

I told him his actions were truly despicable. He could not have cared less. I never spoke with him again. Twenty years ago and it still bothers me when I think about it.

Having a Swedish passport doesn't make you a real Swede, people who literally arrived in Sweden in the last decade an dspeak with foreign accents have Swedish passports.

Also, people with penises have Swedish passports that say "Gender - F" on them. It doesn't mean they're factually female.

"An Indian man, identified as Bahrat Kumawat, who is reportedly the hotel owner".

Would that be, up to 49%, owner with a valid work permit.

A fine "swedish" muslim obviously...

Loss of money does not give him the right to assault anybody.

Good to hear the old 'ayhea' insult 🤣🤣

Swedish? Akdemir sounds Turkish.

Obviously, the guy from the Far North had finally had his fill.

This is a perfect example of HIT AND RUN, that Jimi once sang about, so eloquently.

Do you recall?

The guy from Sweden did an amazing Hit and Run....

Incredible....

If only Jimi were still alive to see this....!!!!

Also, Guy...when running across the road, please watch out for the CROSSTOWN TRAFFIC....!!!!

Passports (along with nationality) can be rescinded. Unless the guy was born in Sweden, he's on permanent probation. As he should be...
