Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair(TMVR) price in Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi All...I am looking at needing my heart mitral valve repaired in the near future...I was planning on returning to my home country NZ as I have private medical coverage there, believing the procedure(installing a mitral clip) would be covered under my policy...well, unfortunately I have found it is not☹️☹️...they will cover the traditional open heart surgery version but that is not appealing, as you can imagine...TMVR is available tho, but at a cost of 2 million baht which is way outta my budget...

So, my question is...would someone here give some me advice on where and the cost of having this procedure done here in Thailand...any and all help will be much appreciated😀😃

Bumrungrad Heart Valve Center

Bangkok Heart Hospital

Veijthani Hospital

I doubt you will get it significantly cheaper than 1.3 - 1.6 Mill Baht. Maybe this year near to 2 Mill, Try. And Good Luck for you. 🙏

As above, definitely over 1 million, probably around 1.5 million (baht)+ at a private hĺllospital.

Less at government hospital but only large, tertiary, university-affiliated ones have the capacity and there are some downsides especiallypp for those not long term resident pin Thailand: red tape, language barriers, wait lists.

If yoh don't otherwise luve hete, there are much better options than Thailand for medical tourism e.g. India (top tier private hospitas there are half the cost of Thailand) https://www.apollohospitals.com/procedures/transcatheter-mitral-valve-repair-mitraclip

The Medanta and Apollo Hospital chains are considered top tier. Both offer MitraClip. Both also have multiple branches, base which one on selection of surgeon. Some suggestions in that regards:

https://drpraveenchandra.com/about-doctor/

https://www.apollohospitals.com/doctors/interventional-cardiologist/chennai/dr-sai-satish

I am basing this just on research, I have no firsthand feedback to go by. If it were me based both on hospital reputation and training background I would likley go with Dr. Praveen but make inquries and specifically ask how many MitraClip procedures he has done to date.

I've had mitral valve prolapse since the 80s.

Why would it need repair? TIA!

Mitral valve prolapse per se does not need repair. Only if it leads to severe mitral regurgitation. Majority of people with mitral valve prolapse never require surgery.

OP presumably has severe mitral regurgitation.
