US Set To Slash Jets, Bombers And Naval Power From NATO

Trump’s NATO Pullback Sparks Fears Across Europe

Donald Trump has triggered fresh alarm inside NATO after reports emerged that the United States plans to scale back major military assets dedicated to Europe — including fighter jets, strategic bombers, submarines, drones and warships.

The dramatic move has fuelled fears that Washington is slowly stepping away from its long-standing role as Europe’s military backbone just as tensions with Russia remain dangerously high.

According to reports from a closed-door NATO meeting, Pentagon adviser Alexander Velez-Green told allies the US would significantly reduce its military commitments unless European nations rapidly fill the growing gaps themselves.

Fighter Jet Commitment To Be Slashed

The most alarming revelation was that America’s fighter jet contribution to NATO could reportedly be cut by around one third.

US Navy destroyers assigned to alliance operations are also expected to be reduced, while long-range missile deployments and other strategic capabilities face further scaling back.

The reductions strike directly at the heart of NATO’s “Force Model” — the alliance’s rapid-response military structure created after Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The framework was designed to ensure NATO could mobilise forces quickly in the event of a major conflict with Russia.

NATO Allies Fear America Is Stepping Back

The reported comments from Velez-Green were interpreted by some NATO officials as a blunt ultimatum.

According to German outlet Der Spiegel, the Pentagon adviser suggested Washington would only cooperate fully with allies willing to “move quickly” to replace disappearing American military capabilities.

European officials are increasingly worried the Trump administration sees NATO less as a collective defence alliance and more as a financial burden.

The United States currently accounts for roughly 62 per cent of NATO’s total defence spending.

Confusion Deepens Over Poland Troop Reversal

The latest developments come just weeks after Trump stunned allies by first ordering thousands of US troops withdrawn from Europe — before abruptly announcing another 5,000 would instead be sent to Poland.

The reversal left NATO governments scrambling to understand Washington’s actual strategy.

“It is confusing indeed, and not always easy to navigate,” said Maria Malmer Stenergard during a NATO gathering attended by Marco Rubio.

Even US defence officials reportedly admitted privately they were unsure what Trump’s changing orders ultimately meant.

Europe Faces Growing Security Anxiety

About 80,000 American troops remain stationed across Europe, but military planners fear future reductions could weaken NATO’s eastern flank at a time when Russian aggression continues to dominate European security planning.

The Trump administration had already halted deployments of American personnel trained to operate long-range missile systems in Germany.

Several allies now fear Europe could soon be forced to shoulder far more of its own defence burden without guaranteed American backup.

Trump Pushes ‘America First’ Military Strategy

Trump has repeatedly argued European nations rely too heavily on US military power while failing to spend enough on their own defence.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte attempted to calm tensions by insisting alliance discussions over troop posture were “normal business”.

But behind closed doors, many European officials are increasingly nervous that Trump’s America First approach could fundamentally reshape NATO’s future — and leave Europe dangerously exposed during one of the most volatile periods since the Cold War.

Excellent. We should close all bases in Europe.

All of the Europeans on this site will endorse this action since they dislike the USA.

Endorsing this actions means we support Trump in his decisions. See what I did there.

You favor the USA staying in Europe, do what Europe can't collectively do?

Can't you read? I said I support Trump in his decision to remove all that stuff from Europe. I would even encourage him to get out completely.
