So it turns out JD Vance's handler Pieter Thiel is moving his family to Argentina in preparations for unfavourable political winds in the US.

Argentina is again considered a desired destination, with a president that's a Trump fan and a favourite of the Israelis.

Let's see how many of the MAGA inner circle ends up on the pampas.

It would not surprise me one bit if most of Trump's cabinet, handlers and enablers end up down there, on the run from the (US) law. Milei won't give them up, but since his polling numbers are as dismal as Trump and he's up for an election next year, things might get interesting.

Yeah, that's true.

I don't think it's true that Argentina is a big draw for Israeli expats though.

Most of the Jewish movement has been to Israel from Argentina as there is a big Latin Jewish community there.

Argentina had been a big draw for Russians fleeing Putin but they changed the visa rules so that dried up.

I love Argentina and would be interested myself but the last I checked I'm not qualified. A good maybe better alternative is neighboring Uruguay.

I think their current Trumpist political phase will pass as it's failing badly. Not that anything before worked either. That's part of the "fun" of the culture there. Highly dramatic.

Theil is a techno fascist for sure and paid for Vance but I think it's total BS to view Argentina as a draw for modern Nazis.

By pure coincidence the one time I visited Buenos Aires I randomly visited a non-central shopping mall. A major annual Argentinian Jewish cultural festival was happening, and they were doing traditional Argentinian Sephardic Jewish song and dance which was all new to me, They were surprised to meet an American there and were very friendly and English fluent.
