Linux Mint

Featured Replies

I have changed over from W11 to Linux Mint over thae past couple of weeks, not rushing anything, bit by bit. Now I am completely Microsoft free.

Has anyone else done this. Tried Zorin, but got into a few hold-ups.

I have not come up against any Windows apps without a good alternative, and the usual advantages of updates etc, although the W11 users who moan about that have not been on Settings and set the hours during which W11 will not update anything.. After a week or so learning, the Terminal is quite simple, and if, like me, you can have Terminal and Simplexity (Mint's AI Perplexity) open on the same monitor, you can simply copy any instructions into the Terminal and Bob's yer Uncle.

Yes I think I sort of suggested Mint was potentially less hassle in your earlier thread.....

Couple of weeks?

You've been yapping on about how you succeeded in changing over since January.

That was when I first decided to change OS, first with Zorin, and then Mint.

But if I had persevered I could have got it up and running in a couple of days.

Yes, I gave up on Zorin. Mint is working perfectly.

Betterbird for emails, All data backed up to Google Drive. Simplexity for AI. ZapZap replaces WhatsApp.

NORD VPN works OK so I can watch UK telly. No real problems.

Anyone else had this experience, and your views on Mint please.
