Trump wants to audit Fort Knox

For generations, Fort Knox has occupied a near-mythical place in the American imagination. Hidden behind thick granite walls, steel doors, and layers of military security, the US Bullion Depository in Kentucky is believed to hold one of the largest gold stockpiles in the world. According to the US Treasury, Fort Knox stores around 147.3 million troy ounces of gold. At current market prices, those holdings are worth an estimated $667 billion.

Now, President Donald Trump wants to know whether every ounce is still there. On 31 May, Trump shared a post on Truth Social carrying a simple message: 'Time to Physically Audit Fort Knox.'

The only one without credibility is you. Trump's own Secretary of the Treasury oversees the annual audit. Secretaries Mnuchin and Bessent have both visited and seen the gold. The annual audits are available to Congress. The conspiracy claim has been pushed and promoted by the emotionally unstable Elon Musk. He cannot substantiate his claim. It has been embraced by ignorant idiots, people with limited intelligence who are easily manipulated.

The last full audit was in 1953, with a visible inspection by a congressional delegation and a selection of journalists in 1974.

What the Treasury keeps telling Fort Knox gold doubters

Bessent's position has not moved an inch since the chatter first erupted. The gold is counted internally every year, and it is all there. "All the gold is present and accounted for," Bessent said, according to Fox Business.

He has been just as blunt about not making a show of it. "I don't have any plans to go to Kentucky," Bessent told Bloomberg Television, pointing to an internal verification dated Sept. 30, 2024, and offering to arrange a visit for any senator who asks, as reported by Business Insider.

There is a story about Germany's gold being stored in the Bank of England. Reportedly Angela Merkel asked the Bank to actually see Germany's gold and was refused. Rumour or fact?

China was the only modern country to move back to the gold standard. That was a great move. But for some reason, perhaps BRICS, they've given it up.

It was the US federal reserve bnk that denied the Bundesbank to physical access the gold.

Years ago, the Fort Knox guys asked the Swiss Banks if they could transfer the Fort Knox Gold to Switzerland. No takers. The Swiss National Bank asked me if I would be willing to store the Fort Knox Gold in my basement. I agreed. Now you know where it is, but don't tell anyone.

I am betting that Trump will choose Pussy Galore to count his gold.
