Zelensky Begs Trump For Help as Russia Unleashes Deadly Blitz

Russia launched one of its most devastating assaults in months overnight, killing at least 22 people and wounding more than 100 across Ukraine as President Volodymyr Zelensky issued an urgent plea for more American air-defence support.

The massive barrage struck cities across the country, with Kyiv and Dnipro suffering the heaviest damage as missiles and drones rained down on residential neighbourhoods.

Hundreds Of Missiles And Drones Target Cities

Ukrainian officials said Russia launched more than 650 drones along with 70 ballistic, cruise and anti-ship missiles in a coordinated nationwide attack.

The southeastern city of Dnipro was hit particularly hard, with at least 12 people killed, including two children. More than 35 others were injured as apartment blocks, homes and public spaces were reduced to rubble.

Rescue crews worked through the wreckage of a four-storey residential building that was partially destroyed, while damaged cars and charred buildings lined nearby streets.

One emergency worker was reportedly killed while responding to the attack.

Kyiv Residents Flee Underground

In the capital, six people were killed and at least 65 injured after Russian strikes hit multiple residential buildings.

As air raid sirens echoed across the city, more than 41,000 people sought refuge in Kyiv's underground metro system — the highest overnight shelter figure recorded in recent years.

Many residents said they had expected a major strike after days of warnings.

Emergency bags were packed, families made contingency plans and thousands spent the night underground rather than risk remaining in their homes.

Others described a growing sense that Russia is now deliberately escalating attacks against civilian areas.

Zelensky Issues Urgent Appeal

Following the assault, Zelensky renewed calls for additional US military assistance, particularly Patriot air-defence missiles.

He warned that without stronger protection, Russia's increasingly large barrages could steadily overwhelm Ukraine's defensive capabilities.

The Ukrainian leader later revealed intelligence reports suggesting another large-scale Russian attack could follow within hours.

His appeal comes as concerns grow in Kyiv that Western stockpiles are being stretched by multiple global crises, including ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

Moscow Signals New Phase Of The War

The attack follows increasingly aggressive rhetoric from the Kremlin, which has warned for weeks that a new wave of strikes is coming.

Russian officials have threatened "systematic" attacks against military and government-linked targets in Kyiv, while President Vladimir Putin recently suggested Ukraine had crossed a new threshold in the conflict following attacks inside Russian-controlled territory.

Moscow claims it is targeting military infrastructure, though repeated strikes on residential districts continue to cause significant civilian casualties.

Diplomacy Stalls As War Grinds On

More than four years after the conflict escalated into full-scale war, hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough remain distant.

Peace efforts have largely stalled, battlefield gains remain limited for both sides, and Russia appears determined to use long-range missile and drone attacks to increase pressure on Ukraine's cities and infrastructure.

For many Ukrainians sheltering in metro stations and basements, the latest assault reinforced a grim reality: despite years of war, some fear the conflict may be entering an even more dangerous phase.

Urgent appeal? Yes.

Beg? Never!

That man flushes more dignity down the toilet than 47 could ever have.

They are.

Four and a half years and the Russians are stuck in east Ukraine wasting millions of rubles and men.

All they can do is kill civilians, women, children, they don't care.

What a savage nation. No wonder all of eastern Europe couldn't wait to join NATO and the EU.

Smoke billows over St. Petersburg following Ukrainian drone attack

Thick grey smoke was seen rising into the air on the outskirts of St. Petersburg on the first day of Russia's annual economic forum there after an overnight Ukrainian drone attack, according to Reuters witnesses on Wednesday.

Ukrainian President Volodymry Zelenskiy said his drones had struck an oil terminal in St. Petersburg and Alexander Beglov, the governor of St Petersburg, said that unspecified "infrastructure objects" had been hit in three districts of the city

Maybe they shouldn't have killed those students in Starobelsk.

What do they say about poking the bear?

Putin's been fighting with kid gloves, because he doesn't want to destroy Ukraine. But if he has no other options...

Putin's just going tit for tat as Ukraine is sending pinprick drone strikes that are killing Russkie civilians hundreds of miles from the conflict zone. I'd bet that he'd stop if they do.

It's time for the killing to stop and the rebuilding to begin. Not to mention stepping away from the WW3 abyss and the risk of nuclear Armageddon. Long past time.

There hasn't been any significant change in the battle map published by CNN back in 2023. Just a lot of killing and dying.

Putin wants to erase Ukraine.

That is on record many times.

He doesn't consider it a separate country from Russia.

If you don't acknowledge that basic fact, you're basically doing useful idiocy work for Putin.

Ukraine if they want to exist as a country has no choice but to keep fighting.

For Russia this is a war of choice.

Time for two old men Putin and Trump to

put a stop to this madness and win a joint " peace " prize !

Putin knows he has lost so he will kill as many Ukrainian civilians as possible. Truly evil man.

The imbecile has cut 99% of the aid to Ukraine so I don't think asking nor begging will make any difference at all. Zelensky should know by now the Trump is doing Putin's bidding, so there's no way that he would be willing to defy King Vlad.
