Late 2024 we first saw two water monitors on the undeveloped jungle/pond area of our property, otherwise home to tree shrews, numerous birds, water hens.

Undeveloped except for my banana, papaya and pineapples nearer our house (concrete wall divides from our 'civilised' flower gardens}.

Sunday afternoon there was a disturbance - these two fighting; we thought it was a mating dance but have been corrected on that one, told it's a territory dispute.

They're not common around here - second-hand info is that they're shot as there's many fish and prawn farms between here and the coast.

We'd prefer them to move away, but that's not looking so likely.
