MacBook Touch Bar flickering

I have an old MacBook Pro - forget exact year but probably bought 10-12 years ago.

Suddenly the Touch Bar has started flashing green. The only other thing I note is a soft murmering sound in background which just started. Sometimes the green flashing stops but it soon starts up again. No obvious trigger.

Google search says usually a hardware issue, A few online tips to address possible software issue I have already tried with no success. So presumably hardware issue it is.

Getting MacBook repairs here involves a trip to Bangkok (or having local shop send it to Bkk, same difference) and usually long wait (several weeks at least). I am leaving for US in 2 1/2 weeks so not really feasible.

My question to you all is: how risky is it to delay this repair? I have a better chance of getting it fixed in timely manner in US than I do here but that would mean waiting about 3 weeks.

Appreciate advice.

For now, I am just shutting it down whenever not in use.
