Sharif said both sides had agreed to the "immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon."

The announcement came as Israel renewed air strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut despite the reported ceasefire, raising questions about the agreement's implementation.

Trump declares deal complete

In a post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump declared that the deal with Iran was "now complete."

"Congratulations to all!" Trump wrote.

Trump also said he had authorized the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and ordered the immediate removal of the US naval blockade.

"Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!" he said.

Talks to continue before signing ceremony

Sharif thanked the US and Iran for their commitment to the agreement, as well as Qatar for supporting efforts to secure the deal.

He also praised the leadership of Saudi Arabia and Turkiye for what he described as their significant contributions to the negotiations.

According to Sharif, a series of meetings will take place this week to prepare for technical discussions ahead of the official signing ceremony in Switzerland on June 19.

So not good news then. Interesting how you point to Israel breaking this and not the Islamic Republic of Iran. The immediate opening of the Strait along with the immediate lifting of the naval blockade surely is a very good thing. Also seems the destruction or export of the highly enriched uranium is also part of the deal which again must be a good thing. We should all be hoping this holds and it actually is an end to this conflict rather than spewing Israel or Trump hate. Nethanayu will put the boot into it. He has to keep the pot boiling until the Israeli elections in October. His only hope is to stand for re-election as the war leader. Otherwise corruption charges and jail time awaits him.

Lets get things correct !! it is NOT a deal it is a MoU which is not binding ,

the reason i say Israel, is 2 fold

1 Israel has been trying to get rid of Hezbollah for years and at the cusp of that happening ?? to tempting !!

2 iran getting a lot of American Tax payers dollars for this deal

The full details have not to my knowledge been confirm as yet so destruction or export of the highly enriched uranium is still up in the air!!

remember TRUMP and his team STARTED this war so i dont think it should be difficult for anyone to accept that it should be finished, if i was a yank and Tax payer i would still be pissed at trump for the huge amount of money wasted which could have been used for other items like healthcare or help Americans buy food in other words help his people !! but he would rather manipulate the market and make money for himself off the peoples backs

It was “Trump and his team” who started this whole mess to begin with (with input from Netanyahu), and everyone is a whole lot worse off than they were before, so I’ll withhold extending any credit, thank you. The Obama agreement that Trump reneged on in a fit of jealousy during his first term was a whole lot better than anything I’ve read about the current tentative agreement, and it didn’t cost billions of dollars in warfighting costs, or the lives of 150 Iranian schoolgirls plus thousands of other Iranian civilians whom the US murdered in terror bombings. (Not to mention a dozen US servicepeople.)

 

And besides, as MikeandDow points out, the current document is just an MoU. Which is a few cans short of a six-pack (i.e., an actual agreement).

The fact that it won't be signed until Friday leaves several days for Israel to screw things up. We'll see what happens. Maybe Trump will actually think about the best interest of the USA for a change and walk away from this nonsense before it's too late.

It originated during the outbreak of the First Palestinian Intifada (uprising) when Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and other leaders established Hamas as the official Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in Gaza. but it goes back further that that to the displacement of Palestinians and the loss of Palestinian land In 1947, the United Nations proposed partitioning British-controlled Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states, with Jerusalem under international administration. Jewish leaders accepted the plan, while Arab leaders rejected it, viewing it as unjust to the majority Arab population, The Arabs Hate Israel with a passion and visa versa this will never be resolved until one or the other is completely wiped out both sides have committed atrocities, so that is why Trumps peace will never hold there will always be fighting

Israel has the right to respond to military targets not civilians and hospitals. Israel too have an expansionist Greater Israel project with the objective of the elimination of Iran. Not condoning either sides though. Middle East peace may not be possible if the only one country has nuclear weapons and supported financially and militarily by a super power.

My guess is that there will probably be some sort of agreement about the enriched uranium that falls short of a full removal but yet gives Trump the opportunity to claim that he actually accomplished something. That way the US forces can exit the area, claim "victory" and go on to the next adventure.

Then again, maybe that's just wishful thinking.

I will believe it when I see it. And by it, I mean a peace treaty, not a MOU that’s lacking some key points such as control of the strait of Hormuz, and the whereabouts and control of any highly enriched uranium.

Trump has announced that we have a deal, we’re close to a deal, we’re the magical two weeks away from a deal, we’re going to bomb the hell out of them, we’re not going to bomb them, we’ve obliterated their air defenses, their Air Force, their navy . . . three times. He lies like a rug. Why should anyone believe what he says today?

Any deal is going to leave the world less well off than it was prior to Trump pulling out of the JCPOA.

An agreement to halt uranium enrichment will have to be monitored by an international intergovernmental organization that has the expertise aka IAEA. The agreement will lift sanctions and will certainly contain sunset clause.

One of the biggest liabilities that Trump had leading up to this war was the decision to use two absolute imbeciles in the form of Witkoff and Kushner. They are both rabid Zionists, they both deliberately lied to Iran during the negotiations in order to fool them into thinking that the US was sincere, and look at the outcome that we have.

The thing that a very tiny mind like Trump doesn't get is that Iran will not negotiate with the US at this point. Many reports are coming out that Witkoff is begging the Iranian foreign minister for meetings and his calls are not being returned.

The US has backed themselves into a corner and the economic devastation has been way beyond what they anticipated, and the price they're going to pay for this in the midterms is going to be brutal. Unchecked inflation, rising unemployment, the closing of hundreds of thousands of small businesses, no return of manufacturing to the US, a shortage of labor due to extreme and short sighted immigration policy, and the abandonment of any hope that Trump would improve the quality of life for Americans, but instead we get sabotage of those hopes for the entire planet.

Don's demise will be a good thing, as Trump will lose his power and he will just become a whiny gutter trash punk, will have to deal with being doubly impotent, and hopefully he will eventually disappear into oblivion. Morbid sickness is quite likely, considering his rapid decline, and his three or four cheeseburger a day diet.

Agree. I am an American expat and my family back home are feeling the pinch of fuel prices and inflation. Trump started a not need war — take away from Epstein files? Maybe but he didn’t win and Iran wasn’t a pushover like he thought. They buried their uranium and sealed the entrances with explosives accourding to news reports. So he failed! His war closed the Strait of Hormuz, he is not getting the uranium so what exactly did he achieve? Iran is string willed, they’re not going to kowtow to the U.S. anymore.
