Btw, l went through Suvarnbhumi last week, fast track immigration is still downstairs but had moved from previous location I used in March. Horrid queues observed previously for that escalator stretching way into the check-in area....the passengers as much p!ssed off as sad!

Check me if I’m wrong. Yesterday I took the same escalator to security then to immigration. Then to the gate, then to a business class seat.

The fast-track entrance is located at ground level, right at the far end of each side of the airport.

So if you, TedG, took the escalator up, you would have gone straight through the immigration lanes designed for the rest of us mere mortals.

My wife travelled last month and faced a 20-minute wait just to reach the escalator - it’s a serious bottleneck.

I’ve seen queues snake back from it, although I’m usually spared thanks to the Thai Elite fast-track.

A mixed blessing, really - it means I miss the full on theatre of the brass performing their grand, tearful farewells, only for the performance to end the moment their boomer benefactor disappears from view, followed by a flurry of messages to other “sponsors” after a conveniently silent spell - “solly-na, phone-batallee have plompem”…

Maybe TAT could do a monthly 1 Millionth Tourist to cry up on leaving article.
