Police Rush 300kg Patient to Chulalongkorn Hospital

Featured Replies

An emergency operation was launched on 1 May 2026 to transport a seriously ill patient weighing nearly 300 kilograms from the Udomsuk area in Bangkok to hospital. The patient was suffering severe breathing difficulties, requiring urgent transfer for treatment. Standard ambulances could not accommodate the patient, forcing authorities to rapidly adjust their approach.

At around 09:00, officials determined that conventional medical transport was unsuitable due to the patient’s size. A decision was made to use a slide-bed truck instead, typically deployed for vehicle recovery, to move the patient. Authorities coordinated with Royal Initiative traffic police and the Expressway Authority of Thailand to facilitate the transfer.

Traffic police cleared the route along the journey, ensuring the vehicle could move as quickly as possible through congested city roads. The Expressway Authority supported the operation by allowing the truck to access expressway routes, significantly reducing travel time. The unusual sight of a truck carrying a patient, rather than cargo, underscored the urgency of the situation.

The coordinated effort involved multiple agencies working towards the shared goal of delivering the patient safely and swiftly to medical care. Officials prioritised speed and safety, maintaining a clear route throughout the journey to avoid delays. The patient was successfully transported to Chulalongkorn Hospital, where medical teams were ready to receive them.

Authorities confirmed the transfer was completed without incident and the patient is now under close medical observation. The operation highlights the challenges posed by extreme medical emergencies and the need for flexibility in response planning.

Ejan reported that officials are continuing to monitor the patient’s condition closely. The case also underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in handling complex emergency situations, particularly in densely populated urban areas such as Bangkok.

Unfortunately (or not) we don't know how the staff got him from the truck into the hospital.

They used a crane? And had to remove doors? And how to get him on the operating table? Would it break?

Many questions, not disclosed

They brought my Honda Civic home on one of those trucks.

I remember a case back in the US where a nearly 400kg man could not get out of his bed or his bedroom. They had to bring in a crane then open up the bedroom ceiling and roof to lift him out.

IRRC it had a successful outcome. They did stomach reduction surgery on the man and he lost about half his weight.

Is that also around 300 kg?

You would have thought that his doctors should have put him on Ozempic by now.

A pity the video stops before showing how they got him off the truck. As an aside I hope he gets the proper medical care he needs to lose weight.

I was a firefighter in England, we had to deal with a lot of Bariatric people, it was always a challenge to get them into the "special ambulance" especially if they were upstairs

and no effort was spared to ensure a good and exciting video!

My thoughts as well- I hope he recovers after all the efforts made to help him

I just hope he’s learned something so that he won’t need that kind of ambulance again.

And what kind of operation your Honda was undergoing?

Well done. But being THAT obese should be a crime!

NEWS FLASH Shares in Spring Rolls drops dramatically in Thailand. 🤣😂

Probably got him off the truck the same way they got him on - presumably by a few hefty male nurses! And I can't see why they would have to remove any doors - most are automatic, and amply wide enough to allow at least 2 or 3 people to pass through them at the same time. And it doesn't say he was on the operating table at any time - only that his condition was being "closely monitored". Questions answered - happy now?

Calling Doctor Nowzardan..

In order to fill the lines your post was excellent 🤣

In further developments a subsequent police escort ensured another large van from "Somchai's Pies" arrived at the hospital within the tight window required to ensure a successful transplant into the patient was achieved. The patient, now weighing 350 kilograms, is expected to make a "full " recovery…

I saw a 25yo Thai in 7/11 could barely walk he was so fat.

Major loss of face.

The fat boy looks like he is truly enjoying his very rare ride around town, out in the fresh air, and seeing the sights he probably seldom sees, except on YouTube.

Unfortunately, for fatsos like this, they become prisoners of their own bodies.

Who was that famous American movie and TV personality who saved the life of one other notorious fatso, quite some years ago?

Richard had a heart, it seems.

How kind of the Thais to provide suitable transport for the American guy.

At 300 kilos the guy wasn't running (or waddling) down to 7 to get snacks, someone was feeding him. It requires a massive amount of food to maintain that body mass (like 7 chickens per day and a kilo of tater tots) which someone paid for and fed to him. That's the person I'd be talking to.
