but anything above 50cc Is a motorcycle there are no mopeds with larger engines that I know of

I am not claiming there are. On the contrary, I actually said 50cc + is a regarded a motorcycle. And that's exactly why he wasn't covered.

Comprehensive reading seems hard these days.

Another farang in a motorcycle accident. Why don't you guys rent cars instead? Riding motorbikes in Thailand is very risky.

Are you talking to the whole forum when you state "you guys" ??? - as if someone on a motorcycle is representative of the whole forum population, except you of course....

Or, do you mean "you guys" because you are not a 'farang' and are thus, different, not a farang and assuming all farangs ride motorcycles ?

What a scab.

Parents sorted the bill but yet he still starts a gofundme instead of growing a set and sorting out repayments.

it is the time of entitlement, his circumstances are entirely of his own making, but, instead of getting a job and earning money to pay for his error he starts a gofundme page so others can pay for his mistake.

That was a very poor and uneducated guess try 100kph for a 125.

It was no guess at all, it is what I observer on a daily basis as I drive my car in Phuket over the years

Yes I know a 125cc bike can do 100 kph on an open road, but not on the crowed roads of Phuket or Pattaya etc, they toddle along at a slow speed, hence it is not a sport as you called it.

I do 160 kph in my car sometimes on an open highway but I do not pretend I am a racing driver. 😀

Most of the time I am only doing 40 to 60 kph just like the rest of the traffic but I am in air-con luxury and shaded from the hot and sticky sun, much more relaxing.

I have asked many Thais with cars why they do not ride motorbikes and they say something equivalent to "Do I look stupid".

Who does, when you have about 50 pages of insurance gobbley gook that can strain the mind of someone with an IQ of 180, and reading it on your phone..but why only 50cc .was it a car international permit as 50cc is allowed...maybe not as innocent as he is making out

It is on the first page of my travel insurance

What is? About motorcycle?.. I haven't needed travel insurance for 25 years but remember it was streams and streams of insurance talk...I can't imagine it has changed especially every gofund me says they didn't read the small print...but maybe it has

Typical of that generation.

And have you asked the Thais riding motorbikes why they don't drive a car , do you think they would reply that they were stupid? or do think their reply might have something to do with not having enough money

Remind me again , what was it I described as a sport ?

Riding a motorcycle here is rather stupid in my opinion, soaked to the skin by the rain , burnt to a crisp by the sun , and possible smashed to pieces in an accident, but riding a pushbike on the roads here takes stupidity to a whole new level all the above plus heat exhaustion and a good chance of getting bit by a dog

Riding a motorbike in Thailand has nothing to do with sport, dream on, do you imagine you are in a MotoGP race as you toddle along at 50 kph on a Honda 125 😀.

I ride a bicycle here for daily exercise, I do not think I am in the Tour De France each time

I'm not quite sure who you think are fantasising about being in a Moto Gp Race how does this fantasy present itself at 50 kp/h ? no shirt on , shorts , and no helmet, hardly looks the part, I think you might be a bit mistaken But I reckon when you go out on the pushbike you are probably the sort of bloke who dresses appropriately I bet you have all the lycra and the pointy helmets etc, are you sure you don't dream of being Lance Armstrong..be honest

There are 50cc motorcycles and there are 50cc mopeds there is one significant difference, the clue is in the name

well if it works for them then why not? don't knock it nobody is asking you to contribute and the fewer insured people who have accidents means the lower your premiums will be, so what's your problem?

Been there done that..............and they just keep chasing and then the hound becomes less dangerous than the traffic.......no lycra on this firm, just treats.................

Upset for being stereotyped? Well, too bad, there are simply too many news about farangs crashing their motorbikes and ended up asking for help. So many farangs got involved in motorcycle crashes in Thailand until you guys coin a term "Thai tattoo" for road rash.

True, Thais with money buy cars, when I ask why they not ride a motorbike they say they are not stupid,

Thais who do ride a motorbike are not stupid as they can not afford a car, farangs who ride a motorbike must be stupid though as they could buy a car.

The reference to the Moto GP was to the bloke who said riding a motorbike in Thailand is sporty so I was taking the piss, so try and keep up.

I do ride a bicycle for exercise, but not on a main road, that would be really stupid, I ride it around a reservoir in Phuket on a specially made cycle track, no danger at all from cars and no lycra but I do wear a bicycle helmet thanks.

I referred to the Tour De France as I was taking the pissss out of the guy who said riding a motorbike is sporty.

The cycle track is also sheltered almost the whole circuit by very tall overhanging trees hence no sunburn unlike the farangs on their motorbikes with skin as wrinkly as an elephant over time.

Richard_Smith was stating he does not ride one but you would not have it.

So therefore you are calling yourself stupid as you are a farang too and so, according to you we all ride motorbikes so that must include yourself.

Why do you guys do it, I cannot understand. 😀

I don't have a problem.

Merely saying, the social media generation think they are an entitled bunch, and less likely to take responsibility for their own actions.

i just see it as another form of insurance, which also removes the need for one to take responsibility for one's actions

you said I described riding a motorbike in Thailand as sport. I did not , no keeping up required, well not from me .

Surprisingly not many people on holiday buy themselves a car, and as for expats what makes you think they could all afford a car ? do they all have a money tree "back home"? you sound like an uneducated Thai , but as you are not Thai you don't really have an excuse for spouting such rubbish

we all end up like that whether or not we ride a motorbike, can't say I'm bothered, vanity was never my thing,

Call it whatever you like. I wasn't brought up in an era that was all about "thumbs ups" and "likes." Social media has turned a whole generation into brain dead sheep.
