You tell me I dont wear them. I would not go to either preferring to shop near my house, or I buy short pants when we go back to the states yearly. Like Banana Republic outlet to be honest.

I still shop Bo Bae occasionally, though a lot of that action has moved to other areas. Nowadays, I shop more at the Indian and China Mega-Mall section of Chinatown. Mostly because I'm already in the area. A trip to Bo Bae is a specific mission when I want Songkran shirts in the off season.

If you're just looking for cargo shorts, I wouldn't make a special trip anywhere. Just about every mall, BigC and Lotus has at least a few pop-up stores that sell things like that. Or MBK, or the malls around Chatuchak (which, unlike the weekend market, are open during the week- though I think they close on Mondays- someone may chime in with a correction.) Even some of the MRT underground shopping areas have pop-up clothing shops. No need to make a special trip. It is hit and miss, but low effort.

Edit: BTW, I pay 150 baht for Dockers at the pop-up shops. They're up to $50 "back home". I don't know if they're fake, factory rejects or what. But they work (and look) great, for 1/10 of the "back home" price. Admittedly, the selection is variable. But, for 150 baht, so what?

It depends if you want original, tailored clothing. Or just random no tailoring cheap stuff.

It depends on what kind of clothes you are looking for. I personally like Uniqlo which has a large selection of clothes in good quality for fair prices.

One thing for sure...forget Bangkok or Thailand for those high quality tailored shirts and suits like before at bargain rates. Now all the tailor shops around Nana will sell you crap cloth and use crappy tailors with crappy cuts and finish. If you want the well cut stuff, it will take hours of arguing as they will increase the price and not the mention how many cheat on the type and quality of the cloth used. Sure there are high end tailor shops in Bangkok with very good stuff. But their prices will be similar if not more then the fine cut shirts or suits in european retailers. Italy is now the best choice if you are looking to refurbish your shirt and suit wardrobe. Great cuts in Italy. Great material and at bargain prices.

If really wanting to purchase in Bangkok, buy from major malls and go to the original brand shops and check out what suits you. Because even in the major brands, all over, the quality of the cloth has become real cheap, thanks to sinkflation.

I buy mine at a Niyom Jeans stall in the main aisle at Central so you could try the Central nearest you.

Can be, especially if buying bulk. Some of the cheapest prices, that's for sure. I use to get decent quality t-shirts when doing iron ons.

As stated, really need to check the quality, stitching & such.

Whenever I’m on a travel day, whether by bus, train or plane, my 2 wallets, keys and passport go in various zip pockets of my Decathlon shorts. I’d never, ever, think of dropping any of those in my daypack.

Experienced travelers keep passport & money, except for pocket money in a passport bag around your neck or around your waist covered by your underwear. The 2nd is the best. Zip pockets easily defeated by a team of pickpockets where one person does the bump & distract while another unzips and removes.

My brother spent years guiding travelers between Europe and Asia. He reckons keep passport and valuables actually in the front of your jocks. Even if undesirables pat you down they very rarely pat your genitals.

A bit extreme for a night on Walking Street but...

I used to keep enough for a bar bill in my wallet in one side of cargo shorts and the "real" money loose in the opposite side pocket which I never touched "in public".

I don't wear jewelry or such stuff.

Point about the passport bag around the neck taken, but seems very uncomfortable if you’re just wearing a shirt. Around your waist covered by your underwear! Maybe your wallet’s thinner than mine, but I don’t want a very suspicious looking bulge at the front of my pants, especially when strolling through an airport.

No, I don’t need my house key while travelling, but it would be a huge hassle if I didn’t have it upon my return home!

Given your suggestions re bag around the neck or underneath underwear to defeat pickpockets, I hope you now agree that zipped pockets are still at least more secure than your original suggestion of dropping things in a backpack.
