Playing with Linux Mint and SteamOS on my PC

Featured Replies

Thought I'd try a few different Os

Downloaded Ventoy so I can put several .ISO on one USB drive.

Installed VENTOY on my USB drive, copied over Win10.iso, Linux Mint.iso, Macrium Reflect.iso

Steam just didn't work from Ventoy (very complex 5 partitions, install failed)

But Linux Mint installed very easy from Ventoy, screen resolution too high ...... hard to read.

Settings, way down, had screen resolution, changed to 1080 and all is good.

Loaded Plex client for Linux (Flathub), easy install, worked right off.

Movies and TVShows from my NAS Plex server all work straight off.

Backed up the drive with Macrium.

Opinion, easier to install then Windows 10, wifi dongle connected right away.

I haven't found anything I frequently use on win10 to be missing from Linux Mint.

Next, use RUFUS to create boot USB from steamrepair3.8.bz2

Booted from USB, loads a quick version of Linux with the option to install steamOS (no choice of install destination)

Takes a while to install, then updates itself and reboots.

Currently waiting for World of Tanks (free) to install itself.
