Shoulder Injury - where?

Featured Replies

I was closing the gate with my left arm holding the dog leash with my right .She yanked me and it has been bothering me for 6 months. Unfortunately need to see an ortho guy specializing in shoulders if possible. Any recommendations ? Live 2 hours from Phitsanulok 5 hours from Chiang Mai. Had rotator cuff on right side not pleasant at all . Thanks

Ricky, try Bangkok Hospital Phitsanulok.

Have patience. Shoulders often heal very slowly

Check on Google maps in your region for "MRI scan". It will be cheaper (and nearer) then driving for 2 or 5 hours to a big hospital.

Then you - or a specialist - can decide what you have to do about it.

The tendon might be partially torn. (my friends wife has this case)

Severe restriction of movement and stiffness are typical symptoms. If such a rotator cuff tear remains untreated, there is a risk of tendon atrophy. Consequently, the shoulder muscle may completely lose its function. An expert diagnosis is essential for successful treatment.

Good luck!

The “top dog” for shoulders is Dr Pornthep Mamanee at Bangkok hospital HQ. He just did a triple procedure on my shoulder in March. Rotator cuff repair, labrum repair and AC joint resection. He’s been trained at Johns Hopkins in the US.

oh boy tendon tear sounds like the issue. I have found that most of the places won't give you xray or MRI without Dr's order.

I'd be increasing the breast stroke lapping, regardless. 🤪

It could be a Bone Spur in the shoulder joint which happened to me. My Orthopedic removed the spur at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.

Yep, i have a labral tear, i decided to not bother with the op in the UK as success rate wasn't great and lots of recovery time, 10+ years later it's mostly alright but I'm careful

Yes they seem to all want to see a Dr referral letter

You can get MRI without doctor order at <mrithailand.com>

However before investing money in scans that may nto be indicated, see a good shoulder specialist. A physical exam by an experienced doctor can tell quite a lot and might (no guarantee) prevent getting unnecessary and costly tests.

The best one is in Bangkok and he is well worth traveling for, may make the difference between correct treatment and not-so-correct treatment and/or prevent need for unnecessary surgery.

Even MRI Thailand wants a doctor letter

They will ask if you have one, but if you say no, you are self referred, they will still do it.

That has been my experience

Shoulder Injury - where?

Below your neck and above your chest.

Frankly I find it funny that people who live in the middle of nowhere all run to the cities when they need something.

Stay local. You always make the best decisions.

Use the local shaman and Thai herbs along with hardwork in the sun. ☀️

They were quite insistent with me I managed to dig out a 10yo letter about my Meniscus tear which stopped them asking

Maybe an issue specific to that branch.

The Bangkok branches definitely does nto require a prior doctor order.

See below, email came from Prachachuen MRI online booking, she was also requesting a referral letter in WhatsApp. At the same time i was liaising with hospitals in India who were also banging on about a referral letter

Mine was covered by Veterans Affairs as it was related to my service. The cost for mine was 542,000 THB. But a simple rotator cuff repair package is available.

Arthroscope shoulder Acromioplasty with Rotator cuff repair / Bankart / SLAP 1 side (Exclude Implant)

Stay in the hospital for 2 nights

Price 373,000 THB.
