Is it mandatory to make an appointment to apply for a residency permit or can you just show up at that section and queue up? I need one quickly and this was rather unexpected.

Where, Bangkok? It's not mandatory but a very good idea to save time. Appointments are currently available for Monday and Friday next week, be aware that all offices will be closed 3 days next week.

It's also worth mentioning that they no longer mail the letter to you, you have to return in 7 days to collect it.

Thanks. That part I knew. Which just complicates the calendar a little. Like a tap dance for one stupid little piece of paper. LOL.

Every office is different. At Rayong you just turn up and pay 300-500 baht to get the letter the same day.

Make an appointment. Note print out appointment confirmation.

Looks like you need to click on the 4th box down labelled Queue Online. Then on the link labelled Government Complex Ratthaprasasana Phakdi Building in the top left-hand corner, whereupon you'll then need to select and then click on A Letter of residence information in Thailand (Only Bangkok Province) against the Group of service heading in the large box opposite, then scroll down in the aforementioned large box and click on A Letter of residence information in Thailand (Only Bangkok Province) again under the Select Service heading, then scroll down further and finally click on the Make an appointment box (shaded dirty pink) whereupon you should finally be able to book your appointment!

What a bloody carry-on, just to obtain a certificate of residence!

"Finally". I just went through the entire process and was 27 seconds start to finish. That compares rather well with standing in line for god knows how long if turning up with no appointment.

Great but my original and actually the only question I had was “Is it mandatory to make an appointment to apply for a residency permit or can you just show up at that section and queue up?” But thanks to all who told me how to make an appointment.

My plans for the next couple of weeks just got all ducked up so I’m not sure what date I might be able to go. I’ll make an appointment and try to get lucky but if that falls through I’ll have to queue up as a walk-in.

"Just go to the main immigration office out at the government complex building B on Chaengwattana Road. Go to the third floor that's where the TM 30, 90 day report, and certificate of residence room is.

Have your tm30, have your lease, data page of your passport, copy of your evisa, most recent entry stamp.

They'll give you the form to fill out while you're standing there and you'll have plenty of time while you wait in the queue.

The COR is free and when you apply they will give you a receipt that says come back in one week to pick up the certificate"

What he's conveying, if you are able to get your sked 'unducked' and indeed make an appointment, is that the appointment needs to be printed. You include a print of the appointment with the copies of everything you're giving them.

Showing the appointment from the file or pic on your phone more than likely is not going to cut it at CW; they'll likely tell you to go downstairs and get a print of it from one of the copy shops. DIY in advance.

That is exactly correct.

Screenshot etc will not cut it.

Just posting for others...

For any appointment at CW they require hard copy print out.

Added advice... Even walk in for various services the main desk will require you to show filled in form.

Meaning if you walk in you can obtain forms from office desk however to obtain Queue ticket that office inside will ask to see filled in application.

Be that TM7 or whatever

It seems like a mixed bag on wait times for COR depending on Immigration office used. Last time I needed a COR (driver license), I just let an agent do it for me. Picked up the next day.

Sad. I guess that's why so many people complain about Immigration. Every IO has a different set of rules.

they have all our info if you do 90 day reports or the yearly begging show

for me, it is a 2.5 hour trip, single way + hours of waiting your turn

and now to modernize, you have to do it again, the next week... an envelope , 10 baht stamp and your address is ...to much work ? you can even pre lick your own stamp (or spit)
