Look at how many have been moving to Texas, from California, the Midwest and East in the last two decades. You've never been there so you haven't the slightest what Texas offers. It's still a lot of wide open spaces, with the only real problems the development around major cities because of that influx. Texas is comprised of many originally outsiders, hundreds of thousands moved there, along with those who were born there. I was there from 1985-2016, and never had any problems with anyone, and they were as friendly as any I've seen in many other states. Bordering Mexico, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Louisiana has many cultures close by, along with excellent foods. New England is great for some things, like hunting and fishing, although the cultures are the same throughout. North eastern people. Extreme cold the further north you go, with little to do unless you're a winter sport person from November through April or May. Texas is usually warm like Thailand, with a short winter break where bugs die for awhile and the air is always clean outside the larger metro areas. Texas has a huge German and Polish constituent, cities largely made up of those cultures. That pop music culture is everywhere, especially in Thailand, Korea, China and Japan, where morals are thrown out the window, but Texas has a huge country and rock music scene including constant concerts. Again, if you've never been to Texas, and at least for many decades haven't been back to the US, what you know is in the past.
