Thailand's electric vehicle market is expanding rapidly, creating growing demand for specialised products and services that meet the evolving needs of EV owners.

Roojai Insurance, Thailand's leading direct-to-consumer digital insurer, is responding to this shift by developing EV insurance solutions built specifically for electric vehicles, supporting both drivers making the switch and Thailand's broader move toward greener mobility.

EV adoption in Thailand continued to accelerate through 2025. According to data from the Automotive Industry Club of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), 147,522 new battery electric vehicles (BEVs) were registered during the year, including 122,123 passenger cars, representing a 74.7% increase compared with the year prior.

As the market continues to expand, Roojai remains focused on delivering straightforward digital insurance that offers accessible, transparent coverage aligned with the real-world needs and driving habits of modern EV users.

Acknowledging that electric vehicles carry different insurance considerations from conventional cars, Roojai has structured its EV insurance policy around three core pillars:

  • Worry-Free Protection: Comprehensive coverage designed to reduce unexpected out-of-pocket expenses specific to EV ownership.

  • High Sums Insured: Policy valuations that accurately reflect the high replacement costs of EV components, with particular attention to advanced battery systems.

  • Lifestyle Customisation: Flexible, digital-first plans that allow drivers to shape their coverage around their individual budget and usage patterns.

Commenting on the growing demand for EV-specific cover, Nicolas Faquet, CEO and Founder of Roojai, said:

"As Thailand's EV market hits record speeds, insurance must evolve to meet the unique realities of electric car ownership. We are leveraging our digital platform to address specific concerns, from high-value battery risks to specialised repair standards and charging incidents.

“By offering features like battery coverage, flood protection, and optional home wall charger coverage, we ensure our customers can embrace the transition to cleaner transport with genuine peace of mind."

Beyond financial protection, Roojai is focused on making EV ownership more convenient day-to-day. Through the Roojai Mobile App, customers can review their policy, file claims, and request 24-hour roadside assistance from a single platform.

The app also allows users to accumulate and redeem points for rewards including fuel vouchers, shopping vouchers, e-Wallet credits, and more.

As Thailand's EV sector continues its upward trajectory, Roojai remains committed to supporting drivers with insurance solutions that combine technological capability with a close understanding of customer needs.

Through continued investment in innovation, the company is contributing to Thailand's transition toward greener mobility and the long-term development of the country's EV ecosystem.
