The US military said it knocked down an Iranian missile barrage and worked with Saudi Arabia forces to strike sites in Iraq that Tehran-backed militias have used to launch attacks in recent days. The strikes on Wednesday killed at least 20 members of a former paramilitary alliance that includes pro-Iran groups.

In what Washington cast ⁠as “an attempted surprise ⁠attack” by Tehran, Iran had launched multiple ballistic missiles at US forces in the Middle East, shattering a brief pause in fighting. Iran’s target was a US base in Jordan, Axios cited a US official as saying.

The US and Saudi warplanes carried out strikes on Iran-backed militants in Iraq after accusing them of launching drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities in recent days.

Iran’s surprise attack came as the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, visited Washington. Israel has been notably absent from the recent fighting with Iran.

Saudi has been a long time ally of the US, because they protected Bone Saw Mohamed when he murdered that journalist.

But I doubt they will attack Iran directly, as it would fire back on their interests

Is it coincidental that Hamas has finally agreed to start disarming? Arab world is reluctant to engage with Iran while it has the embarrassment of the Gaza conflict and Israeli occupation ongoing. If Israel starts to pull back from Gaza, then I can see Arab action against Iran. Iran has been inciting Hezbollah to fight against Israel in Lebanon and Hamas to continue in Gaza. Now it has its militias in iraq hitting out against Kuwait, Jordan. and Egypt. If KSA moves against Houthis, then it will be the start of a larger campaign. Watch what the Egyptian military does. it's been looking for an excuse to justify its massive budget. Alot hinges on Israel being flexible and allowing the Arab world to save face. Israel will have to bite its lip and take a back seat to the Arabs on this.
