Chonburi Provincial Police have denied online claims that four suspects linked to the murders of Russian siblings and a family of three have family ties to police officers. The force also said there was no evidence that the suspects had been supported, directed or used by police to commit offences.

The clarification was issued on 2 August 2026 after allegations circulated on social media and in some media reports. Those claims said the four suspects were children of police officers, had close connections to officers, or had carried out crimes on officers' behalf.

Chonburi Provincial Police said it had checked personnel registration records, investigative information and relevant evidence before issuing its statement.

Police say checks found no connection

According to the provincial force, its review found no facts to support claims that any of the four suspects was the child of a police official or had a relationship with police officers as alleged.

It also said investigators had found no evidence that the suspects received backing or instructions from officers, or committed crimes on behalf of police.

Investigation will continue, force says

Chonburi Provincial Police said all legal action in the cases would be based on evidence and the rule of law. It said there would be no discrimination or assistance given to offenders.

The force added that investigators would continue their inquiries, widen the investigation where appropriate, and prosecute every person found to be involved in accordance with the law.

It asked members of the public with information or evidence that could help the cases to contact police so it can be checked and acted upon.

Something seems different, this case is getting a lot of visibility. On the same level as back when the Red Bull crashed and did not stop.

No. Absolutely not. I feel infinitely safer here than I do in most major American cities. 99.9% of the violence and the murder is Thai on Thai, and this kind of thing is an absolute aberration. And we still have no reason to believe that this was absolutely random.

What I would agree with is that the officials really do not want us here, but they tolerate us and since I've never felt the need to be accepted anyway, it really doesn't matter one iota to me what they think. But my Thai friends think of us and what my wife's friends think of us is far more important to me.

The officials don't count, they've never done anything to benefit the people anyway so they're what I call the Invisible men. Using an agent for immigration purposes has helped a great deal to enhance my lifestyle here.

I don't think the police would get involved in petty crime such as dismantling a motorbike for parts.

One would like to thinks so, but they are not particularly well paid, and likely covet the trimmings, or maybe carry an addiction.

That really is horrific.......I know the police are bad here, but when you impersonate a policeman that is terrifying......reminds of Wayne Cousins in the UK......people tend to obey if they see genuine police officers.

When a policeman says a case doesn't involve other police, I refer to the famous quote by Mandy Rice Davis, "Well, he would, wouldn't he?"

This doesn't mean there aren't good policeman around. The problem is, the nice ones aren't in high positions.

Plenty of news reports are now saying the perpetrators were posing as policemen.
