Missing Tourist Found Safe After Nine Days Offline

A Turkish-German tourist reported missing in Chiang Mai was found safe after deliberately disconnecting from calls, messages and social media. Relatives became alarmed after losing contact with 32-year-old Ali Karakoyunlu on July 23 and asked his former girlfriend in Thailand to help locate him. Police eventually recognised him from a missing-person notice while he was walking on Ratchaphakinai Road on August 2. Ali explained that he had checked into a local guesthouse and intentionally ignored communications while taking a digital break during his holiday. He later contacted his family and publicly apologised for causing worry among relatives, friends and followers.
