To be frank, Israel is a sword that cuts both ways. It's an ally of the US, and then it's not.

When new CTs join the agency and head off to the Farm for ops training, they are first presented with a slew of speakers who introduce them to the organization as well as give them the lay of the land in the world. A rep from the FBI comes and details domestic intel threats. It turns out, and comes as a surprise to new CTs, that the country with the largest intel representation inside the US---working to recruit clandestine sources in government and in key industry and technological sectors---is Israel. Israel steals more technology than the Chinese and the French (I bet most didn't know the French are up there, too.).

New agency recruits to the clandestine services (aka, the actual spooks) are given details on all the threats from all countries and groups, whether ally or foe. I'm not sure what remains classified and what does not, so I won't go into much detail. (By the way, Israel is one of a few countries who still use "honey pots" to go after targets. China, Russia, France and a few others still use honey pots.)

I do understand that every country acts in its own best interests first and foremost, so to some degree I understand Israel's espionage against the US. Some of what Israel has done, however, has been a threat to US national security, so that is upsetting, but the powers that be in Congress and the rest of government seem willing to overlook things that amount to clear betrayal.

There is a reason Israel is not a member of Five Eyes, the intel cooperative that is the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
