Work Permit And Retirement Visa

Recommended Posts

Is there any place in Thai Immigration law that forbids

a person with a work permit from also applying for and

receiving a 1 year retirement extension ?? Or visa-versa ??

A retiree may want to supplement his/her income to

improve his/her living standard or may just want to

keep occupied with some volunteer work. Both of these

activities require a work permit.

It seems to me that demonstrating financial stability

should not prevent one from working or doing volunteer

work, both of which require a work permit.

Thanks

OK Let me re-phrase the question.

If I have a retirement visa extension to a Non Imm O Visa

is there any reason why either the employer or the Labor

Division which issues Work Permits cannot give me one.

Anything in the law ?

Anything other than the law ?

Is the passport even involved at all other than recording

the number for identity purposes ?

Thank you for any input on this issue.

Immigration rules make it clear ... retirement is retirement. A person married to a Thai, or legally supporting a Thai child is able to obtain a work permit on a Non-Immigrant O visa.

Agreed , but if you search back a few months you will find one member here who says he had a work permit issued when he had a retirement visa.

Maybe you could PM him for details, he did say that tea money was involved

He who starts paying bribes does so at the risk of a never ending sweries of requests for more.

When you want to do things illegally, be prepared for the day you get caught (nothing to do with my handle).

Maybe someone claims they did it, but that is not proff they did. And don't forget that Immigration does not issue work permits...it is the Ministry of Labour....now we are up to at least two bribes...going for three anyone?????

Nont sure where you are, but Chonburi will issue a work permit under any valid 1 year visa, inlcuding retirement visa's.

I don't doubt your information, but how do

you know this ?

Did you get a work permit with a retirement extension to

a Non Imm O ?

Did a friend of yours get one ?

Did someone just tell you it is possible ?

Since the law as written seems to forbid it, the question is

(1) Was a payment of tea money required ? OR

(2) Are the rules applied differently in different offices ??

Thanks for you attention.
