KLIA Transit halves Putrajaya fares for Merdeka

Travellers heading to Putrajaya or Cyberjaya for Malaysia's National Day celebrations can receive 50 per cent off KLIA Transit return fares during the three-day Merdeka weekend.

Discount covers three departure stations

Express Rail Link said the promotion applies to return journeys from KL Sentral, Bandar Tasik Selatan and Salak Tinggi between 29 and 31 August. The offer is available for passengers travelling to Putrajaya and Cyberjaya.

Discounted adult tickets and tickets for children aged six to 15 will be sold exclusively through the KLIA Ekspres mobile app and the operator's official website. Sales run from 26 to 31 August.

The offer does not cover journeys to KLIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. Airport passengers should therefore check the normal fare before booking, even if they are travelling during the promotion period.

Young children travel free

Children aged five and below can travel free with an adult ticket. ERL limits the concession to a maximum of three young children for each paying adult.

The first 200 passengers to arrive at Putrajaya and Cyberjaya Station on 31 August will also receive an exclusive Merdeka Pack, according to the operator.

Free shuttle buses provided by Prasarana and Perbadanan Putrajaya will connect Putrajaya Sentral with event locations around the administrative capital. These include the National Day parade and its full-dress rehearsal.

What it means for foreigners in Malaysia

The promotion offers residents and visitors a cheaper way to reach Putrajaya from central Kuala Lumpur, Bandar Tasik Selatan or Salak Tinggi during the National Day period. It may be particularly useful for people attending the parade or rehearsal who want to avoid driving into busy event areas.

Tickets must be bought through the KLIA Ekspres app or official website, so passengers should purchase before travelling and confirm that both their departure station and destination qualify. Anyone continuing to either KLIA terminal will need a separate eligible ticket or the normal airport fare.
