I have asked something similar a while back but can't find the link. That time someone answered that stamp on departure was still available, and they said were at departure it was which I do not remember. Anyone knows or have the link?

What's with the tax title.

For some reason, the automated e-reader gates won't read my US chipped passport at departure, so I always step off to the side and get a stamp from a live IO. I don't even try the e-readers any more, and no problems at all with the nice people herding most people toward the e-readers.

Usually takes less than 5 minutes (unless all the e-readers are on the fritz and everyone's getting the manual stamps)

You can still get a stamp, just go to a manned booth when you leave Thailand.

In order to be issued an annual Income Tax payment certificate and Certificate of Residence for proof to the tax authorities in my home country that tax is paid here so I can get a tax deduction there and if I travel out of the country within a year and it is not possible for the regional tax office in Thailand to see if I have been in the country for at least 180 days as passport control at Suvarnabhumi is now automated. So if still possible I see it easier to get a stamp at the airport instead of heading to immigration in country for a printout of travel history.

Thanks, best I don't stress at the airport then because last time I traveled, I was suddenly airside and only later did I realize that I more or less just walked through.

I'm in the same situation as you.

For me the real problem isn't finding someone to stamp you when you leave Thailand, but remembering to ask for one...

If ever I need to prove to the Thai tax authorities that I'm only in the country for 179 days then I would also need a stamp on exit.

What about keeping your boarding passes?

Go through manual exit gate with an IO to stamp you out.

Keep plane boarding passes.

Keep airline flight bookings.

Sorted.

To be sure that you have been in Thailand for a certain amount of days, Surat Thani Revenue requires a complete photocopy of all pages of the passport, including those without any stamps.

For info: After the arrival eGates at MAN (UK) and before exiting to the meeting point, I observed a sign that directed passengers seeking a stamp in their passport to a specific location. I am assuming that's for the individual's personal income tax declarations in whatever country they live in.

Thanks for the replies. I got my stamp. I flew business this time and went fast track. When I got to passport control, I asked one of the people who informs travelers which booth to go to get a stamp at passport control and was then directed to a booth that I seem to remember had a sign special need.

No, not necessarily.

There is an "Application for Travel Record" form available from your local Immigration office that will summarise the information, with or without stamps.

You can apply for your immigration comings and goings as an official record. It is free. Like others have said though you can still go to a manned booth if you prefer to get a stamp each time, but if you'd rather not you can easily request your travel record.

And with incoming immigration also moving to e-gates for 31 more countries I definitely would not want to be queueing for a human (although those queues should be shorter if more people are using e-gates).

When I was applying for my kid's first passport I had a new passport and didn't bring my old one with me to the Embassy. They wanted to see my in and out stamps to see if it's possible I was the father. They directed me to another office in bangkok where I was given a printout of my arrivals in thailand. This was some years ago.

Yes, along with a signed copy of your passport and the passport itself.

I find it very easy, when they steer me towards automated gates i just say no thanks i need a stamp, very simple.
