A 24-year-old delivery rider rescued a newborn boy after spotting a dog carrying and biting a black rubbish bag at a roadside rubbish dumping spot in Pathum Thani on 24 August 2026.

The baby, which still had his umbilical cord attached, was taken to Thammasat University Hospital's Chaloem Phra Kiat facility for urgent treatment and is reported to be safe. Police are now reviewing CCTV footage to identify and locate the mother.

Rider finds baby after bag splits open

Khlong Luang Police were called to Moo Baan Pruksa B in Khlong Sam, Khlong Luang district, after reports that a newborn had been abandoned by the road.

Officers attended with an emergency team from the Khlong Sam Subdistrict Administrative Organisation and an ambulance from Thammasat University Hospital Chaloem Phra Kiat.

At the scene, they found Ratchanok Kunlabut, 24, a rider, holding the newborn boy. Emergency workers gave the infant initial medical assistance before rushing him to hospital.

Ratchanok told police she had been riding home when she saw a dog biting and carrying a black bag by the roadside. The bag tore open, and she noticed the baby inside.

Isolated rubbish spot had no lighting

She took the baby to her home immediately because the area was isolated, had no street lighting and was known as a place where people dumped rubbish by the roadside.

Ratchanok said she believed the child's mother may have had an unplanned pregnancy and had abandoned him there.

Police have questioned the rider and are checking CCTV cameras along routes in the area as they try to trace the mother and take legal action.
