Right. But if UAE port wasn't accesible how does that work. When you say 'sealift' you mean airlift out of UAE?

It's the name of shipping company that can get supplies from shore and resupply the carrier.

1000-3000 baht? That won’t get you much in Pattaya these days.

Well, I sure hope they get the rest and the fun they deserve, and I hope they're not disappointed. Most of all, I hope they are shown respect.

Let's hope that they show the people of Pattaya respect also.

As a Merchant Seaman back in the day I can only remember one place that we unloaded at where we were not only scrutinised but were photographed and issued ID cards.

This was a port in Jugoslavia called Rijeka where we were followed by Tito’s security goons every time we went ashore. That apart, there was no other ID/Immigration problem anywhere else in the world.

I hope these Mariners don’t have to go through long queues and that they have a well deserved R+R after playing their part in “Operation Epstein Deflection “.

The pox clinics gonna be busy on the ship

Just how many, this time around, will decide to JUMP SHIP?

Will it be zero percent, as usual?

This time around is a bit different.

No doubt, the first thing these sailors will want it a good hot meal.

Going back over the years, to the 1960s and 1970s, American servicemen were always unfailingly and notably polite around town, and among the nightlife, during stopovers in Thailand. Hopefully that has not changed.

He estimated that each service member could spend about 1,000-3,000 baht while in Pattaya. If all 5,000 personnel entered the city and spent within that range, the resulting circulation in the local economy could be around 5-15 million baht.

can't fault his mathematics

good for you, and thanks for sharing,

I have no idea what your problem is. (1) "good for you, and thanks for sharing" is something that could be a response to 100% of posts on this site. (2) All I basically said was "IF I lived there ... I would leave town to avoid this event." I don't have a right to that opinion? (3) Looking at your profile, excuse me, you live in Surin??? Did they relocate Pattaya to Surin??? (4) I think you should repeat "good for you, and thanks for sharing" seven times to soothe inner struggles and physical distress. (5) Please try an cheer up and have a better day! :-)

A lot of them first-timers are going to be falling in love....

Yes. For some of them it will be an unforgettable love itch sensation.

Chestnut season is upon them.

Let's hope it's all of them, and terminal.

Some geezers will be extremely upset that they’ll have to pay more than 500 - 1000 baht.

That’s if any Thai girl will even acknowledge them with all the young American studs in town.

Best they stay in their fan rooms while the Americans are in town driving up prices.

Also a surprise that the ship isn't headed to one of the USA's standard logistic hubs for resupply. Good luck finding toilet paper and tampons in 7-11 for the next few weeks 😶

They are pretty regular visitors into Laem Chabang or Sattahip.....

Oh Man...there will be a rise of STD's back home when decommissioned.

Obviously not a Navy man, like 99% of the forum.

This particular carrier isn’t due to be decommissioned for a number of years. 50 is the goal. About 14 left.

Returning from a routine or extended deployment isn’t “decommissioned”.

Sorry to be a stickler: A Hot Time in the Old Town or There'll be a Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight; both are what the song is officially known as...

Anybody know...
How do they get down and back?
What time do they have to return to the ship?

Yes, very much so. Reung Ruen bus services make a killing!

Lots of hype over this, seen the Navy coming inn for years. These days Usually very well behaved and polite. More likely to see groups of them in central catching a movie, going bowling , shopping , hanging out in restaurants.

They dont let 5000 off at the same time, and the ones that do get swallowed (some pun intended) up in the city.

Not saying a few may want a Legover on 6………

Contrary to all the expat imaginations, these guys will flood the Malls and fast food joints. The majority will have a strict curfew and will be warned about human trafficking.
