Five karaoke workers fined over Sattahip road dance

Featured Replies

Five women working at a karaoke bar in Sattahip, Chon Buri, have been fined after videos showed them dancing, performing flips and using a hula hoop on Sukhumvit Road.

The footage, originally shared on TikTok by the bar owner, prompted complaints from local residents who said the activity put both the women and passing motorists at risk.

The owner, using the account @kkjot_3354, said the bar had closed early and staff had time to relax and enjoy themselves. While some online viewers found the clips amusing, criticism quickly mounted in the comments.

The TikTok account and videos were later deleted, but the footage was reposted by Thai news outlets and Facebook pages.

Police traced five women in the footage

Sattahip Police Station chief Komsan Khamtunkeaw instructed traffic officers to identify those involved and take action.

Police subsequently found five women shown in the videos at the karaoke bar. They were taken in for questioning and warned not to repeat the behaviour.

The women told officers they had gone onto the road specifically to film content. They said it was late at night, with few vehicles passing, and believed their actions would not cause a problem.

They said they had not expected the video to attract attention, nor that police would trace them and pursue legal action. The women apologised publicly and promised not to do it again.

Fine possible up to 500 baht

Officers charged the five women with entering the roadway in a way that obstructed traffic without reasonable cause. They were fined, although the amount was not disclosed.

Under the Land Transport Act, the offence can carry a fine of up to 500 baht.

Police urged the public not to use roads for personal activities or social-media content, and to follow traffic rules for the safety of motorists and other road users.

Definitely a public offence or should I say an offence to the public. Don't reckon it's real good advertising for the bar either.

No Re-enactment ? I thought offenders are required to do that in Thailand. Or make them point 👉 at the road for a photo shoot?
