Thailand introduces expanded deportation rules

Cambodia condemns Anutin’s border visit

Cambodia has protested Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s visit to a disputed border area on August 23. Cambodia accused him of entering its territory without permission. Thailand rejected the claim, saying Anutin visited Thai troops near the Chong An Ma crossing. Bangkok has called for the dispute to go through existing bilateral channels.

Thai woman jailed in Myanmar after ex-husband’s death

Thai national Pavinee Supasirivisan has received a one-year prison sentence in Myanmar for an immigration offence. Police arrested her after her former husband died at a Yangon hotel in May. Myanmar authorities reportedly opened a murder investigation, but have not confirmed whether Pavinee faces charges over the death.

Karaoke bar owner arrested over child trafficking

Police in Nakhon Sawan arrested a karaoke bar owner after an undercover operation allegedly uncovered the sexual exploitation of minors. Officers found nine female workers at the venue, including three aged 16. Four minors were placed in protective care. The owner faces several human trafficking and child exploitation charges.

Bangkok driver records alcohol level five times the legal limit

Bangkok police arrested a driver after a car allegedly collided with a motorcycle. Police said she initially resisted a breathalyser test and appeared to suck on the device. A later test recorded 240 milligrammes per cent of alcohol, nearly five times Thailand’s legal limit of 50 milligrammes per cent.

Thailand bans competitive testing for children under six

Thailand’s Education Ministry has ordered schools to stop competitive exams, pass-fail systems and rankings for children under six. Officials want early education to focus on physical, emotional, social and intellectual development. Teachers will instead assess children through observation and portfolios.

Mystery donor gives Pattaya hospital 100 million baht

An anonymous donor has given 100 million baht to Pattaya Patmakhun Hospital. The donation will fund a new six-storey building for outpatient and inpatient services. The project will add around 4,350 square metres of space and increase the hospital’s capacity.

Thailand Real Estate Awards celebrate 10th anniversary

The Thailand Real Estate Awards 2026 celebrated their 10th anniversary at the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok. The event introduced a new identity and awards structure, covering property markets including Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya and Koh Samui. The ceremony ended with a performance by Ice Saranyu and fireworks over the Chao Phraya River.
