Bangkok Driver Records Alcohol Level Nearly Five Times Legal Limit

Bangkok police arrested a transgender woman for alleged drunk driving after officers said her car had been involved in a collision with a motorcycle that injured a passenger. She initially denied involvement and resisted officers’ attempts to question her, while beer containers were reportedly visible inside the vehicle. At the police station, officers said she appeared to suck rather than blow into the breathalyser before refusing to repeat the test correctly. She eventually completed the test, which recorded an alcohol level of 240 milligrammes per cent, nearly five times Thailand’s 50 milligrammes per cent legal limit for drivers. Police initially charged her with drunk driving and are reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence before deciding whether to file additional charges related to the collision.
