Pattaya meeting bars US Navy personnel from Soi 6

Featured Replies

Pattaya authorities and US Navy security team, have barred visiting US Navy personnel from Soi 6, Soi 6/1 and Soi 7 during the USS Abraham Lincoln's port call in Chonburi from 2 to 6 September 2026.

The restrictions were agreed at a meeting at Pattaya City Hall on 31 August, held to prepare security and visitor services for the expected arrival of more than 5,000 personnel aboard the aircraft carrier and three accompanying ships.

Officials expect about 60 per cent of those arriving, or around 3,000 people, to travel to Pattaya and stay overnight.

Areas and activities off limits

Pattaya Mayor Poramese Ngamphichet assigned Bancha Kullawanich, the mayor's secretary, and Pattaya city clerk Kiatisak Sriwongchai to chair the meeting.

Those attending included Pol. Col. Milin Pienchang, superintendent of Division 2 at Tourist Police Bureau 1; Phichet Thammahor, senior deputy district chief of Banglamung; representatives from Pattaya City Police Station, the ships' security team and other relevant agencies.

The meeting set measures covering public safety, crime prevention and travel assistance. Navy personnel will not be permitted to enter Soi 6, Soi 6/1 or Soi 7, visit cannabis shops or pharmacies, or take part in water-based activities.

Walking Street will remain open to sailors, although they must leave by 2am.

Businesses urged to charge fairly

Authorities also reminded businesses to charge fair prices during the visit and to strictly prevent sexual exploitation, particularly where anyone under 18 is involved. Officials also stressed that prostitution is strictly illegal in Thailand.

I can visualize an American sailor or two rocking up at the entrance to soi 6 and uttering a loud

Doh !!

The navy cannot partake in water based activities ! 😂

You have to wonder who ultimately sanctioned this , is it the navy not wanting their people going into these areas or is it the Thai government saying you are welcome but just not here or there .

Doesn't say much if it wasn't the navy that decided , bit like saying come on holiday but only to where we tell you 🙄

Well I quess the guys can partake in Gentalmen clubs...

Well the bar owners in Soi 6 and 7 won't be amused

That's a lot of revenue not being made 😱

Plus the girls won't be over the moon either 🤑

That sucks. R&R used to be a lot more fun in the good old days, before the nanny state came about.

Well it's not like they'll be wearing uniform. Good luck enforcing that!

Back in the Day, they bussed most of the Sailors to Bangkok having put parts of Pattaya off limits. This was long before Walking Street, Soi Buakau, Soi 6 & 7 etc etc etc. Renting Motorcycles was also prohibited, but that didn't stop the some sailors from wrapping themselves around the Buddha Tree in the middle of the road. At least this time Walking Street and the Beer Bars will be full.

Yes only the top ranking US Navy officers will be allowed to enter the Soi's and bring back some fine StD's back home.

There have always been areas that have been deemed off-limits.

The areas in question have made their bed and now have to live with it.

mqaybe this will be a wake up call to them

Enforcement is easy. They may not be in uniform, but the haircuts are a giveaway as well. If you go there and get in trouble, you will get hung by the powers that be. Also, the bars will get nailed if they serve people and the shore patrol or Thai police spot them.

No water based activities? Should have told Trump that when he was in Moscow.

Today is September 1, at first moment I thought April 1.

The beach, 13/2 and 13/3 will be busy. And Honey and Pothole. It does show the city authorities don't really understand what goes on in Pattaya if they think it is just Soi 6 etc where it all happens.

Edit

I see they ' forgot ' to mention Boyz Town !

The US Navy I was in is now long dead and gone. They have been replaced by the Morality Police. I heard rumors of that happening awhile back, and I guess it's true - And it sucks. Now? Get a massage and the freaking Captain will take 1/2 your pay for 3 months, confine you to the ship or base quarters (or brig) for 3 month, and demote you. Probably will do the same if you come down with an STD.

Honestly, Gen-X or Gen-Z considering enlisting in today’s US military needs their heads examined.

Welcome To Pattaya - Don't You Dare Have Fun! Or Else! NJP!

It's because Soi 6 is now owned by the Koreans. The Korean really have clout. They can strong-arm authorities into barring any group or community from Soi 6.

Always saying it's a safe family destination, I've seen families or tourists walking and even pushing baby strollers on Soi 6, Walking St, up in Nana/Cowboy, everywhere...but in this article about the Navy ship visiting..."Pattaya/Thai officials" deemed Soi 6 is unsafe for combat experienced military when the ship visits. Which is it? Safe family destination, or not even safe for military men and women??

Edibles okay, bongs prohibited.

Remember kids, whiskey is not water.

Hic.

Welcoming tourists.. restrictions all over.. Be warned prostitution is illegal, can't go to pharmacies and soi's were hostess , rental women, waitresses are working, not allowed to do water activities, So what do these men have to do? shopping in a mall with perfumes, being attacked by ladyboys, scammed in other bars or even hairdressers? Plenty of funny activities in Pattaya...

Why would they want to bar any extra group of potentially high paying customers?

What happened to the Nightwish Group?

Probably they try to polish the image of Pattaya. But everybody knows since the 70'd of the last century what kind of place it was/is.

Funny that prostitution suddenly becomes illegal...( For a few days than)

Easy to spot. Look for the anchor tattoo on their arms.

The only reason I can come up to this barring of Pattaya Soi 6, 7 is that lots of media are reporting or focusing on USS Abraham Lincoln's crews mental health after months of mission without breaks.

The last publicity Thailand want is media/ YouTuber showing Sailors flooding Soi6,7 grabbing some girls ass or fighting with some security guard there.

Remember! Pattaya is a family friendly destination, and there's no prostitution in Thailand.
