Weight Loss Diet Plan Including One Bottle Of Beer Per Day.

Featured Replies

I'm just wondering if anyone here uses a diet plan and still drinks one large beer per day and do you still lose weight? If so what diet plan do you use? I've lost weight over the past year but I've still got 7 kg's to go to be at my preferred weight.

You can drink one large beer a day and still lose weight, as long as you stay in a calorie deficit. There is no special diet needed.

The problem is that a large beer can easily be 250 to 300 calories. Every day that is close to 2,000 calories a week, so it can make those last 7 kg considerably slower.

Also, alcohol is prioritized by the body for metabolism. While your body is processing it, fat burning temporarily drops. Alcohol also adds 7 calories per gram and can increase appetite, worsen sleep and affect training. Still, you do have to be consistent, and it also helps to stay active and do something throughout the day.

Another problem is that those 300 calories are coming from beer instead of food that actually gives you something useful, like protein, fibre, vitamins and good carbohydrates. So even if the calories fit, you are replacing food that can help with recovery, muscle maintenance and keeping you full with mostly empty calories from alcohol.

Most people’s biggest enemies are still inactivity and a poor diet. One beer a day is not going to decide everything by itself. If you eat reasonably well, stay active and remain in a calorie deficit, you can still lose weight. The problem comes when the beer is added on top of an already poor diet and inactive lifestyle.
