Unless arguing with a fool makes you evaluate your own situation and actually do something about it. Never dismiss someone as a fool if they trigger you to think, change something, or perform better. Sometimes even a bad argument can be useful.

There isn't enough time in the day to learn all the things I want to learn here. There isn't enough time in the week to do all the things I want to do here. I've been here 25+ years, and certainly will NOT go back to what's left of the USA. I'm right here until the end.
But 'here' has little to do with it. It would be the same wherever I live. There are always new things to learn, new places to explore, and new people to meet.

Brain rot is generational and we are now witnessing the weakest generation in the history of mankind. It doesn't matter where you are in the world right now there are a lot of people whose intellects are declining rather dramatically. Social media and now AI are simply going to accelerate that trend as time goes on. All anybody has to do who is in doubt is watch TikTok for 10 minutes.

Actually, no different than every neighborhood I've lived in, after leaving my hometown of the first 20 yrs of life. Can't say I socialized with any of my neighbors, or even knew their names. A few coworkers, but that's about it.

If they weren't a single female, I really had no interest in them 😁

Lots of empirical studies showing social isolation significantly contributing to the onset of dementia. Interacting with another human isn't just about the words, like a forum, it's navigating tone, context, facial expressions etc.

It would be interesting to see how isolated western men who only talk simple English to their Thai wives compared..

If your brain rots in Thailand, it would probably have already rotted in your home country. There are far more challenges here than back home. For example, I bought a townhouse and am currently undertaking a major renovation project. It's very tricky to get things done right here; It's mentally challenging. I'm not interested in socializing for the sake of socializing and don't go near bars or alcohol. My only major problem is the heat... it makes me tired when I'm sweating all the time, and a tired brain switches off.
