I know this has been covered in the past, but I don't recall this exact situation. My Thai wife & I & our daughter are entering LOS in January after flying from Oz on our Aussie passports. Daughter has a Thai pp too with my surname, so can go in the Thai queue at the airport with the wife, I plan to tag along in that line too, as our daughter can't speak a word of Thai (I'm near fluent). My wife is flying using her Aussie pp which has her married surname (ie my name), but her Thai pp is still in her maiden name. We won't be there long enough to change it either. Will this be a problem ? Do they check the names off a passenger list & if so, will the IO tell her to get in the farang line ? I seem to recall that Thais will always be let in, even on expired passports, but this is a different issue. Are we just better off going in on our Aussie pp's in the tourist line ? I want to use the Thai queue because we are entering at C Mai airport & the Thai line is always much faster ! Any advice will be gladly received.

If you are going to declare as a specific nationality, then the identity documents should reflect that identity. I would not expect that a foreign passport is going to work at the Thai passport e- gates. Anyway, why stress yourself out. There isn't much of line at the foreigner entry, especially in low season and offpeak hours. I have breezed through immigration in less than 10 minutes this year.

This could prove problematical if she was planning to use her Thai passport to enter Thailand. IMM at CNX Arrivals will, more likely than not, want to see her boarding pass for the inbound flight, which, I assume, will be in her married surname and, hence, inconsistent with the surname stated in her Thai passport. In these circumstances, it would, I think, be safest for you and her to present your Aussie passports at CNX Arrivals, even if it does mean a longer wait.

As I suspected, others have only confirmed what I thought. It has all changed at the entry point now & I don't need any hassles, so we'll come in on our Aussie passports to avoid problems. We are only staying long enough to see the MIL (she has terminal cancer) & for me to see a dentist (two weeks). I sold our home in CM & took my family to Oz in 2013, after getting throat cancer from breathing the muck they call "fresh air" in C Mai for over 25 years. This will be my last trip to LOS, so I hope it is a good one. Topic is now closed - cheers everyone.

Sorry to hear of the circumstances in which your trip is being made. Please note that your wife will need to complete a TDAC (as a quasi-foreigner) beforehand - as will you, in any event.
