Apologies if this a redundant query.

Is a border run for tourists at Mae Sot possible yet ? I haven't read anything about border tensions in that area in Myanmar/ Burma for quite a while now.

All land borders with Myanmar have been closed to foreigners since before Covid. You would not be able to do a border bounce at Mae Sot. I believe for a while earlier this year they were not even letting foreigners within a few km of the border due to the bad press about the scam centers and forcing foreigners across the border to work there. I haven't heard anything about those specific restrictions lately, but the land border restrictions are still in place, and likely to remain in place for the indefinite future.

The only "land" border with Myanmar that is open to foreigners is traveling by boat from Ranong to Kawthoung.
