Siam Amazing Park to close for 6 months after floods

Bangkok's Siam Amazing Park, formerly known as Suansiam, will shut for six months after severe flooding submerged almost its entire 118-acre site in Khan Na Yao district for five days.

The amusement, water park and zoo complex announced the temporary closure on Wednesday morning, 30 September 2026, after torrential rain in Bangkok from September 26 left rides, attractions and machinery underwater.

Damage far worse than 2011

Wuthichai Luangamornlert, managing director of Siam Park City Co Ltd, said the 2026 flooding was the park's worst on record and far more extensive than the floods of 2011.

Only about 30% of the site was affected in 2011, he said. This time, nearly 100% of the park has been hit, with ride machinery suspected to have suffered water damage.

The site covers around 300 rai, and is in one of Bangkok's districts most severely affected by the current flooding.

Management estimates losses could exceed 100 million baht, including income lost during the September-October school break and from planned year-end activities.

Once floodwaters have receded, the company will conduct a full damage assessment. That assessment will also support talks with financial institutions over rehabilitation funding.

Reopening hoped for before Songkran

The park said it had opted for a six-month suspension to inspect every ride thoroughly and carry out wider improvements throughout the complex.

Restoration work is expected to take at least three to four months. Management said it hopes to reopen and receive visitors again before next year's Songkran Festival.

Zoo animals caught in floodwaters

The complex also operates a zoo. On September 27, staff rescued 10 hog deer, while six others were found dead in the floodwater.

Founded in November 1980, Siam Amazing Park is Bangkok's oldest amusement park and water park complex, and is described as Southeast Asia's oldest of its kind.

It is widely known locally as the "Bangkok Sea" because of its large artificial sea. The feature has sustained extensive flood damage and will require major renovation work.
