Sledge71
I'm looking for a good quality reasonably priced Gas BBQ. Something under 40K ideally a lot less. I've seen some in Rimping and Homepro in the past, are there any specialist shops here in Chiang Mai that you know of? Or are the ones in the places I mentioned as good as they get. The ones at Rimping are Weber and Bushmaster bbq both of which are quality imports. They are probably as best as you will get here in CM. As far as I know there are no specialist bbq stores here in CM but if you check out the Saturday edition of the Bangkok Post there is generally an advertisement for a guy selling a wide range of bbqs in Bangkok. He can arrange trasport up here and has a good reputaion for price and quality. CB

Austhaied
http://www.bbqthai.com/ Ask for Toby and deal with him. Highly recommend buying from them as they are good solid units, come with a warranty and if you are nice he may throw in a few extras. The delivery service was prompt and very professional. The one i got has a side burner as well, great for when the missus wants to cook up all the smelly things.. Once purchased see McG, as he is De Man when it comes to cooking the perfect steak.. earlofwindermere
I bought a BEEFMASTER BBQ from Toby at bbqthai.com as well. It's a great unit - burns very hot though. I think it's because it's meant to run on propane but they use LPG here (or vice versa).

I think it's because it's meant to run on propane but they use LPG here (or vice versa). I doubt it because the Beefmaster comes from Australia and the de facto standard for gas is LPG same as here. Decisions decisions !! Just preparing my SWOT analysis before I chose, after all I have lots more to consider now ( integral windshields, vitreous enamel windows and flame thrower ignition ( surely a must )) Thanks for your help Iain

Abrak
I am designing a built in bbq in a house I am building in Phuket. I am very tempted by the bbqthai gas bbqs http://www.bbqthai.com/4_turbo_elite.htm which are not very expensive (Bt54k). Has anyone tried them? My interior guy suggests Viking which does look nice... http://www.us-appliance.com/vgvi41ulprtr.html ...but might easily set me back Bt200k by the time it is imported to Thailand. Are the bbqthai ones stainless and built to last in Phuket conditions?

Regards Iain Afew years ago I seem to remember an Australian gas BBQ grll being sold for not a lot of money. It was cheap enough that I was thinking of converting to it from my Webber charcoal BBQ. This Aussi unit wasn't fancy, didn't have all sorts of do-dads, but did have a rotisserie. Oddly enough, I seem to remember seeng it at the Chiang Mai Disabled Center, of all places! Why not give Don a call and see if he remembers (or if I do, for that matter.) The Fly Physherman

stevealbrecht
I bought a gas grill from The Barbecue Store in Pattaya. The main store is in Bangkok. This unit is a piece of junk!!! The burners disintegrated in 6 months, and when I went back to the store to complain, the best they would do was to replace the burners with the same low quality item. Obviously those will rot out within the next six months also. I am now looking for a Weber gas grill, and I will pay almost anything to get that quality. Back in the US, I had a 12 year old Weber that still looked brand new, and it still had its original burners. There are outlets in Indonesia and Hong Kong that sell Webers. Amazon and eBay Weber vendors ship only to US addresses it seems. Good luck Steve Rayong

Pearlgirl
I saw an ad in the latest edition o fCity Life for bbq's available in 3 colours and a pretty good description, with a pic. the website is rivervalleygrill.bravehost.com # 080-497-2775. We emailed them but didn't get a response. If its in City Life I'm assuming its a Chiang Mai company?
