george Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 'FBI agent' refuses to pay bill PHUKET: -- A foreigner yesterday produced a fake US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) identification card and claimed he was a close aide to top US government officials as he tried to avoid paying his hotel bill. Employees at the Coral Beach Hotel called the police after one of the guests, identified as Tangzay Orzer, refused to pay for his accommodation by claiming that he was a senior official of the FBI on an undercover operation. "He claims he is here to get information about international terrorists. He said he can't reveal his true identity," said Lt-Colonel Pisit Chuenpetch, an inspector at Krathu police station. Pisit said that checking with the US and Turkish embassies showed the 31-year-old Orzer had produced both a fake FBI identification card and a fake Turkish passport. "He will be charged with document forgery," the inspector said. The suspect continued to maintain that he was a true FBI official and demanded a meeting with Defence Minister Chettha Thanajaro. -- The Nation 2004-08-02

john b good Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 All for the price of a nights accommodation. He must be an idiot, more likely a psychiatric case. Why couln't he just have been a 'special forces' person like 50% of the other Walter Mittys around here? All for the price of a nights accommodation. Might be a bit pedantic but where did the original article mention anything about 'one nights' accommodation. For all the article said he could have been there for a month. Anyways the Turks have never been the same since Gallipoli

george Posted August 2, 2004 Author Posted August 2, 2004 Update: Turk insists he is an FBI agent PATONG: -- Police say that Turkish citizen Tuncay Orser, who was arrested on Friday for possession of a fake ID card identifying him as an agent of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), continues to insist that he is a genuine FBI operative on a mission to hunt down international terrorists. Orser, 31, was arrested after he showed what he said was an FBI ID card at the front desk of the Amari Coral Beach Hotel when checking in. Suspicious hotel staff there reported the man to the police. An interview was eventually arranged with genuine FBI agents, who denied that Orser was affiliated with their organization. Pol Lt Padungpong Duksukaew of Kathu Police Station told the Gazette, “Orser admits that he got the bogus FBI identification card in Bangkok, yet he continues to deny any wrongdoing. He is adamant that he is a real FBI agent.” Apparently concerned that Patong could become a magnet for other would-be FBI agents, Lt Padungpong encouraged the public to report all similar incidents to the nearest police station. Orser is currently in Phuket Provincial Prison awaiting a court ruling on a charge of possession of counterfeit documents. If convicted, he faces up to three years’ imprisonment, or a 6,000-baht fine, or both. -- Phuket Gazette 2004-08-02
Limbo Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Hmm..Think Limbo could comment on the truthfulness I couldn't so I won't. The young man made a mistake that often is made by foreigners and that even is demonstrated in these columns regularly: To think that Thai people are stupid! By the way, what is an imbo?
fox Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 This Wacko (FBI-Free Breakfast Included) stayed in the wrong hotel. This time for sure, he will be sent to the correct hotel....." Bangkok Hilton ". Free lodging and food are provided. This very silly scam won't work in any country. It takes a wacko to do just that. It's Hilton for sure this time.
astral Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Update:Turk insists he is an FBI agent Well is he really is that makes him all the more stupid. If you are "undercover" the last thing you do is draw attention to yourself!! Pay cash and keep quiet!!
Monsterman Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 ###### scary looking dude he'll scare all the terrorists away
Tornado Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 he will pay a fine and walk away - you guys should write books
rainman Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 With the way he acted, he most likely isn't a true FBI agent. But what if he was and due to the publicity he created, the FBI denies any links with him and just dropped him? After all, an agent with his identity revealed is not worth a whole lot anymore.
Monsterman Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 He deserves what he gets I think the FBI can afford a hotel bill
ponder Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 he will pay a fine and walk away - you guys should write books He should have paid his hotel bill and walked away
DaveYo Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 Hmmmmmm, that would be a very nice picture if he looks like this at Hotel Hilton. As for just paying a fine I doubt that will happen. The USA Government especially the real McCoy FBI will press charges to the fullest extent applicable by law, cause if they let this freako take a pass, more will follow. They want to definitely protect their reps. Also I do believe he needs to see the Expat shrink. Definitely looks daffy to me. Daveyo
