Hi All,

I am 50yrs old. I no longer work.

I have lived in Thailand with my G/F and her children since April this year. I currently have a Non Immigrant, Multi Entry, 'O' Visa.

When I arrived in Thailand, I deposited 800,000 baht into my Thai bank a/c in anticipation of applying for an extension based on retirement next Feb/March.

We are now thinking about getting married early next year.

Would it be better for me to apply for an extension based on being married?

I undestand that i would need to show an income of 40,000 baht per month.

Is it an option to show a bank balance of 400,000 baht?

My problem is that at the moment i have no regular monthly income. I do have other savings invested in the UK, but cannot draw on these for a few more years.

Regards

1. The marriage extension of stay requires family income of 40k per month. There would be no 400k option for you.

2. The retirement option requires 800k on deposit for the previous three months and that the money can be shown to be of foreign origin. If you deposited cash it may well not be acceptable. If that is the case you might want to withdraw it and take overseas to make a wire transfer into your Thai account. Or just use for living expense and refill with wire transfer three months prior to wanting to make the extension of stay.

3. If you need more time on non immigrant O visas prior to extension marriage paperwork can help at Penang and bank account of 800k proof may get a new multi entry from Singapore even without marriage.
