Visa Run To The Ranong-burma Border - Possible?

Featured Replies

Ranong-Burma

Is it possible for a Visa Run, I am bored of Poi Pet, and the other that Jacks go to

Sure it is.. They havent closed the border..

Take care.

The recent demonstrations in Mayanmar can change the situation.

No good idea. Even without the hopefully successfull demonstrations it was never easy/possible to get any kind of Visa

in the Embassy in Rangoon. They are for burmese people and not for westerns and this already a long time before all

the other embassies in South-East-Asia started to make trouble.

I think the guy just wants to go to Victoria point and get stamped in and out. Then back to Ranong for his stamp into Thailand. Dont know anybody who would think of going to Rangoon to get a visa.

HawkinsChris, In an attempt to frame an accurate reply to your

original question, I googled Ranong+Visa and came up with a

couple of excellent trip reports / blogs which should help.

It's been several years since I've made this trip myself but I do

distinctly remember having to take a long-tail boat across a narrow

channel to arrive at the Burmese immigration post.

Also, I believe the current charge is 500 baht or a crisp 10$ banknote

mint condition, collectible variety for the visa fee.

I'm not sure where your trip would originate from, but as far as I know,

there are two other Thai/Burmese checkpoints. Tak province/Mae-sot and

Chiang-rai province/Mae-sai. Googling either of these locations will get you

additional trip reports. Aranyapratet/Poi-pet is bad news. It's my humble

understanding you only need an offical visa from the Myanmar embassy

if you plan on travelling farther into the interior. Please post your adventures.

good work cali4995 ,

but you or the OP could have used tv's search function and found up to date reports ......................

we get kinda tired of answering this question every couple of days ,

please forgive .

Mid, that is in fact what I used. TV's "google-powered" search

function. I'm the FNG, so I don't mind answering. :o

Wow! venerable master, you've got some real skills

there. Obviously a black-belt in computer usage. :o

If you have no idea, why post?
