Good Hairdressers

It's the L'Oreal hair salon on the 2nd floor near the entrance to the supermarket right next door to the Baskin N' Robins ice cream shop and opposite the bank

I've been going there for the last 6 years and the only place I trust to cut and colour my hair - The staff are definitely experienced too as most of them have been there as long as I've been here :o

How much for cut? How much for colour? If you don't mind me asking.

Everyweek I usually go in for a wash and blowdry (don't know what their trick is but they always get my hair perfectly straight that doesn't frizz no matter how humid it gets :D ) and that costs 250. The usually don't charge me extra when I ask for trim at least once a month. Hot oil treatment, it is 1200 (treatment, wash and blowdry). The wash alone is worth 250 baht because it feels much more like a head massage that feels soooo good and relaxing. :o

As for the colour, it depends on length of hair and if you want just a touchup/roots, full colour, highlights, etc. My hair is a few inches below my shoulder and it usually costs about 1500 - 3500 depending on what I get done. Today I actually have to go in for a colour (roots touchup today), treatment and trim with my usual wash and blowdry so I'll let you know how much it costs after I'm done :D

Although my husband always complains how expensive it is, compared to what I used to and would pay back in Australia - he usually stops whinging when I tell him it would cost $50 back in aus just for a blowdry. Australian hairdressers, also prefer using straightening irons (so so not good for your hair) over manually straightening (which usually frizzes after half to a day later). :D

You should try Hair Decor in Carrefour, I go every month and it's very good. 'Boy' is the guy that usually cuts my hair and it costs 250, plus tip of course! Not sure where the OP is coming from wanting a style like that bloke from the Chronicles of Riddick, he obviously doesn't ride a motorbike, well actually with all those spikes he wouldn't need a helmet!! :D

SO I went to two hairdressers in the five weeks I have ben here and both wre absolute crap.
So many hairdressers in Pattaya around Mike shopping second road Soi Dianna and around there.

So anyone recommend real good ones where they can do the best mens styles and coloring etc.
Styles like the shaved sides and the hair sticking up on the top in a square (using gel) best way I can describe it lke the army leader in the movie The Chronicles of Riddick.

See example here

I've told you - go to K. Kid at Tim Hair in Soi VC opposite White Knight restaurant. Take a picture with you or look thro his books. Am sure he can cut your hair the way you want.

 • 7 months later...

Sorry to bring up this old thread but I went to the place in Carrefour a couple of months back. It's the one on the same level as the supermarket (up the escalator on the UK first floor) - a L'Oreal franchise I believe. Anyway, it's awful. Both the girl who washed my hair and the guy who cut it spent a lot of time chatting on their mobile phones and the guy who cut my hair didn't listen to what I was telling him and just gave me a lame trim when I was looking for a shorter style. 250 baht.

no no no... I have just read all of this thread, decided on the hairdresser in Carrefour and then the very last post says it is c**p. I have let my hair grow to shoulder length and rather than have it cropped like I usually do, thought I would ask them to style it a bit. From previous posts they seemed to be good at this.

This place seemed ideal, especially as I do a lot of my shopping at Carrefour.

So was this just a one off bad hair dresser day???

First, nobody, and I mean NOBODY, in Thailand cares what your farang hair looks like, long as it's neat (why should you then?), so just any little shop can cut it just fine. It will help if you bring in a photo of what you want it to look like. However most Thai barbers only know how to do one cut, and that's what you get, so be it.

Second, it's absurd to pay as much or more in Thailand than you would in your own farang country for a cheap cut. In the USA I only pay USD 10. In London, you can get a £5 cut at the barber close to the back entrance of Sir Montague Pyke (Charing Cross Road), a £4 one in Crescent Road, E6, near Upton Park station; and a £3 job in the Hackney area.

Hence 100 baht is max you need to pay and even that is a farang price; 60-80 baht is about right after you bargain down. Check w/ the shops around Soi Buakeow and Soi Hollywood near Day Night Plaza for a start.

You are wrong - there is someone in Thailand who care what my hair looks like - ITS ME.

I also care if I am fat (I am not) and if I am dressed smartly(I am).

You could also add to that list clean shaven and smell nice... there are lots of other things I could add to this list, but by now you have probably got my point. :o

edit: and my wife says she cares as well :D

A haircut is a haircut.

Just keeps it from falling in your soup when you're out aomewhere swanky like Sizzzlers (Weho, please note)

Also should keep from flopping in your eyes when you're crossing 2nd road to go into RGP.

So a quick 60 baht in Soi Hollywood should suffice. :D

Me? I do my own with a hedge beard trimmer - have done for about 15 years now. :o Think of the money I've saved! :D

A haircut is a haircut.

When I'm half bald I'll probably feel the same way but when you've got a full head of hair there are good haircuts and bad haircuts. Most younger Thai guys seem to have decent enough haircuts, although a bit effeminate for me. The choice seems to be the 80 baht barbers near Tukcom or Tim Hair in Soi VC where the Sunee plaza "boyz" have their hair done.

I can recommend a place called Fa Beauty which is on Pattaya Klang just down from Tops Car park (same side), and before the Nova Hotel. It is the very first Beauty shop on that little terrace, opposite the bars. You can't miss it as there is a bright, animated multi-coloured neon sign in the window.

The senior hairdresser, Nat, is an expert in men's hair (15 years) and has a lot of male farang cutomers. Give her a try - the prices are very reasonable.

I declare a vested interest, as the place is owned and managed by Mrs Mobi. :o

Agreed. I didn't even know I HAD full head of hair until recently. The last time I went to a hairdresser was about a year ago. She was a middle aged lady, who scalped me. She also had the shakes. I didn't mind the bad hair cut too much, but when she got the out the razor to shave my neck - that was my lot.

I found out later she had even managed to cut my neck with the scissors. :D

So out of sheer cowardice, I have let my hair grow and it has turned out to be full head of thick hair.

Now I have a further problem of getting longer hair cut nicely.

I don't want a 'Sunni Plaza' look either :o

I am back in the UK in November, but if I wait until then I will look like a hippy beach b*m.

The Carrefour option seemed perfect - has it really got that bad recently or was the experience of edwardsandtubs just a one off???

Are there two hairdressers in Carrefour? The L'Oreal one I went to is next to the entrance of the supermarket on the first (UK) floor. Where is this Hair Decor place?

Hair Decor is tucked away in the right hand corner of the upper floor of Carrefour

its next to the information/returns counter for Carrefour buyers

its near to where they stack all the trolleys before entering the store

It sounds like it's the same place as the L'Oreal franchise. It seems there's only one hair salon in Carrefour - the one whose staff think it's fine to chat on their mobiles while doing your hair.

I normally would too but a great rule in life is never to piss off anyone who's preparing your food or cutting your hair.
