Alternative Adsl Provider For True Phone Line?

Hello :o

I wish to ask if there is any ADSL provider for BANGKOK that i could use instead of TRUE? To explain why: There is a TRUE landline at this house, but the contract is in the name of a previous tenant who hasn't paid the bill. TRUE claims to also "not have any additional numbers for that area" for a new installation in our name. Now with lots of hick-hack we got the line switched over to us (new tenants in the house) but TRUE refuses to activate ADSL on that line untill the old tenant has coughed up the outstanding money - and she has disappeared to somewhere up country, nobody knows where.

I called to BuddyBroadband but they require a TOT line. Called TOT - and they too have "no available lines in that area".

Then called another provider (Quicknet? Forgot name) and they would require a TT&T line - and same spiel, calling TT&T: "Sorry we don't serve that area".

The area in question is Lad Prao 83.

So is there any other ADSL provider that has service all over Bangkok and can be used on an existing TRUE landline..? Dialup sucks.......

I really apreciate any replies :D

Kind regards.....

I think you have only one choice: Pay the outstanding bill (if you want to have ADSL back connected)!

As it looks like that you're the Landlord of that house, you're responsible on first hand for any payments for service related issues: Power, Water, Phonelines pp.!

At that time the Tenant, who hasn't payd some bills, ordered the phoneline from True, You was need to sign for that contract as well. In the fine print of that contract stands very clear that the Landlord is responsible for to pay all bills! It's a bit difficult to translate from Thai but that is what that means.

To make a long "Story" short for yourself, better you pay the outstandings you'll have to do anyway!!

There is not any other ISP for TRUE lines if TRUE didn't approve and they will NOT do so because they want to have the outstanding money!

Hi :o

Sorry i'm NOT the landlord - i'm the new tenant. And the line was installed for the previous tenant. Paying the outstanding bill would not be a problem - if TRUE would accept it! Fact is, to get the line in our name (and the bill paid/ADSL connected) the person in who's name the line was installed (previous tenant) is required to sign - THAT is the problem, because that person is completely un-findable, we know she moved up country but no idea where as she has never re-registered. The landlord is more than willing to help (indeed he had signed too) but still TRUE won't move a finger before the old tenant shows up to sign the "transfer".

The only other option is to wait four months untill that contract runs out, and THEN have it re-done in our name - an immensely stupid procedure, but TIT. Four months on dialup at 22 Kb/s..?? No thanks.

Best regards.....

You have 2 choices for DSL:

Option #1)

Wait for True to disconnect the line, thus "freeing" a circuit available for your use. The reality here is that True has all kinds of circuits available, but they don't want to give more than 1 per house because the ARPU (average revenue per user) is significantly reduced on a second home line. However, you can't change that policy, it comes all the way from the top, so you have to live with it. Also, the current owner of the phone line needs to order the DSL service. It actually has nothing to do with the outstanding bill, which you could pay if you wanted to.

Option #2)

Install a TOT line to the house. True does not wholesale their services the way TOT does, so only True can offer ADSL on a True circuit. You will not find anyone else who can do it. Don't waste your time. You need to install a TOT circuit.

These are your only choices.

Hello :o

Thanks all of you for replying. We got it sorted now - almost. ADSL is reconnected but still with the old tenant's account, for which we of course have no details (username, password) but this will be straightened out coming monday.

Thanks a bunch specially to "Reimar" :D

Best regards......
